Role Purpose Responsible for developing and managing one or multiple business initiatives, projects, or programs leading the overall data quality and data integrity across Service Now platforms, ITSM Processes and enterprise data models. Recommended Experience Prefer Bachelor?s degree or higher in Information Management, Computer Science Engineering or related subject. ITIL Certifications, and ServiceNow data flow knowledge is a must. Must have experience in leading a Data Architect team, including ability to lead a team , work co-operatively as part of a team, and as an individual SME. Experience working independently as an Application Data Modeler where the majority of time was spent analyzing and modeling business data requirements across ITSM Processes. Experience with XML and schema development. Excellent analytical skills with a demonstrated ability to understand and document complex business data requirements in complete, accurate, extensible, flexible logical data models using CASE modeling tools e.g. ER/win, ER/Studio. Understanding of the full development project lifecycle and a project lifecycle methodology e.g. SSADM (structured systems analysis and design methodology), STRADIS, YSM (Yourdon systems methodology), Method/1. Must fully understand DA role within project lifecycle methodology, as well as other development project roles e.g. Business Analyst & DBA. Experience planning, documenting scope and estimating work effort, producing quality deliverables on time and budget. Experience working in an Agile Team environment. Ability to provide advice and consultancy on data architecture topics, knowledge of American Express technology best practices, processes and standards. Scope Typically reports to a Director level. Frequently advises technology partners, including Vice Presidents and above on delivery of data & modeling services/processes This role is a next career progression from the Senior Data Architect role. Entry level management or senior level professional role. Responsible for data architecture deliverables, may be involved in various phases of the development life cycle. Defines and maintains enterprise & line of business data architectures, data standards, strategies and guidelines. Leads or works as part of a team of data management professionals supporting a portfolio of development projects both regional and global in scope. Works with business and application development teams to analyze and understand business data requirements and translate into data architectures. Context - Accountabilities Works primarily with Database Analysts, Database Administrators, Data Architects and application development teams. Works as part of a team of data management professionals supporting a portfolio of development projects both regional and global in scope Context - Management Dimensions Monitor the work of vendor partner resources and Database Administrator/Analysts. Provide guidance to new team members. Provide coaching and guidance expertise on data modeling to other team members. Ensures correct resources are applied to the delivery of projects or processes. May be required to undertake people management responsibilities Functional Capability Participate in development of plans and strategies of data management processes and programs. Provide advice and consultancy on data architecture topics. Will work with Database Analysts and Business Analysts to identify requirements to support delivery of Business and IT strategy. Facilitates improvement solutions by working with all levels across AET to determine database technology solutions that align with Business strategies, IT strategic directions and compliance objectives. Lead and/or serve as a member of a development team to provide business data requirements analysis producing logical data models, using a CASE tool to fully document and maintain models and ensuring integration into existing data architectures. Ensure the construction of meaningful definitions of data elements which are unambiguous, clear and accurate. Present, argue for and agree all aspects of a data model. Take an organization-wide view of the business and its data, (e.g. maintain re-usable or ?enterprise? data models) while being able to provide detailed project-specific modeling and analysis support. Facilitate discussions between groups of IT and business people at different levels; recognize issues of conflict and inconsistency between data requirements and pursue a resolution of these issues. Define point of arrival data architectures for systems or business concepts. Incorporate project models into a master model by comparing and reconciling differences to achieve a consistent integrated view of the whole business information requirements. Ensure adherence to data modeling guidelines, best practices and AET Standards. Lead and/or conduct the necessary research and analysis on projects to identify and promote the reuse of existing standards, as well as the identification and development of new data standards. Contribute with standardizing the definition of data for reuse across the enterprise and works with application development and business partners to establish and maintain consistent data domain and data element definitions across lines of business. Establish and apply the principles of data management - to develop a consistent, integrated, non-duplicated business-wide view of information and data to meet short and long term business requirements so that systems are developed which will require minimized maintenance and re-development in the future. Provide full hand over of the logical data model to the application development teams, as well as the DBA for the physical design and database build work. Lead and participate in peer reviews of completed data models and plans to ensure quality, and identify alignment opportunities across portfolios or regions. Manage Data Architecture work effort sizing, timelines, scope and project financials. An extensive knowledge of Data Architect, Knowledge of ServiceNow, IT Service Management, ITIL are all key requirements for this data architect. Strong skill sets are required as outlined in the job description
