Correspondence/WYO Manager, McLean, VA

Description of specific Duties in a typical workday for this position:

The Correspondence/WYO Manager serving the National Flood Insurance Program at Company will be responsible for coaching, developing and managing a team of NFIP subject matter experts who perform key tasks, including but not limited to:
Managing of WYO Data Monitoring and Reporting
Managing the preparation and publication of Appeals - Claim/Correspondence reports and deliverables
Consulting with FEMA stakeholders across claims and underwriting domains
Providing guidance on Correspondence Claim Appeals
Interacting with insurance companies and vendors who participate in the NFIP program
Grooming the Correspondence product backlog in ongoing agile sprints
Maintaining awareness of current developments in the field of flood generally and NFIP particularly
Championing new system enhancements designed to improve the Correspondence/WYO program
Working with FEMA staff and insurance industry concerning correspondence inquiries
Because the Correspondence/WYO Manager is responsible for managing several direct reports, duties will also include the following:
Develop plans and manage the execution of all Correspondence/WYO processes
Coach, train and motivate members of the Correspondence/WYO Team
Document performance and conduct performance appraisals
Prepare reports on operations and activities
Monitor and report on risks and issues
Ensure quality control over deliverables, work products and reports

Position Requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree
A quick and eager learner when it comes to NFIP
Complete the NFIP course series through EMI within the first 30 days
If not ANFI certified, committed to securing ANFI certification within the first 12 months
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel, Word, PowerPoint
Highly organized, energetic, creative, team player
Detailed oriented problem solver

Nice to Have:

National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) background and experience
Functional legal experience (e.g., attorney, paralegal, investigator)
Experience with SharePoint, SharePoint forms and lists and MS Project
Successful supervisory experience at a large P&C carrier
Experience using Guidewire, Duck Creek, Majesco, Insurity or another leading P&C insurance software system

This is a full time position paying a base salary, full benefits, and has possible bonus potential based on merit and performance.
