Title: Cognos (Report Writer / Report Developer / Data Analyst) [XTGL_39022]
Location: Minneapolis, MN
Type: 6 + Months Contract
Job Duties:
Responsible for creating Cognos Reporting Packages to load data from sources like Flat files, excel, OLEDB and XML to SQL Server and to perform the below roles and responsibilities.
Analyzing the report mock-ups and the requirements.
Creation of Reporting Field Matrix against the Data Model.
Designing Cognos Framework manager Model from the Data Marts.
Implementation of Framework Manager Model in Cognos 10.2.2.
Implementation of Data Level, Object Level and Package Level Security in Framework Manager Model.
Writing of stored procedure in Oracle PL/SQL to import and use that as Query Subjects in Framework Manager Model to fulfil specific purpose Involved in Upgrading the Cognos BI 10.2.2 to Cognos Analytics as part of Administrator.
Work with DBAs, Network Admin, Security Admin, Windows Ops team to make sure the readiness of the environment. Created/Upgraded Framework Manager and Transformer Models, report specifications related to Product business area. Conducted meetings with business users to understand their new reporting needs.
Created Folders, standalone filters and calculations in Framework Manager Project to leverage in Report Studio.
Schedule governance meeting with business team to discuss high level timeliness/requirements
Created detailed Cognos technical documents based on Functional Requirement Specifications (FRS)/BRD.
Built event studio events to schedule reports based on certain conditions met, Built or modify the meta-data model and/or reports as per the requirements in SAT environment
Responsible for writing SQL queries which involves multiple tables, functions, constraints, DDL and DML operations.
Write complex SQL queries using joins, Sub Queries and Correlated Sub Queries to retrieve data from the database.
Assist the data entry team when needed and pulling the required data from various tables using complex SQL queries. Responsible for modifying the existing SQL code based on the new requirements and changes.
Create/update Stored Procedures, Triggers, Functions, Views, and Indexes with extensive use of SQL.
Create indexes for better performance.
Write complex SQL queries using different types of SQL joins, sub queries etc.
Creating, maintaining and tuning Views, Stored Procedures, User Defined Functions and System Functions using SQL Server. Prepared project plan and scope for upgrading Cognos BI 8.4 environment to Cognos BI 10.2.2 version.
Prepared Audit reports in Cognos BI 10.2.2 to understand system usage and derived the capacity.
Leveraged Audit reports to cleanse outdated and legacy reports and Power Play Cube Models.
Installed and configured Cognos BI 10.2.2 in a distributed environment.
Configured Cognos configuration to complete the three-tier architecture web tier, application tier and database tier. Leveraged Active Directory server to secure the environment with single-sign on capability.
Engaged the BICC team and stakeholders to upgrade their respective Cognos content like Framework Manager Projects, Reports and Transformer Models and Power Play Cubes.
Installed Power Play services to utilize Power Play cubes in the environment.
Required Skills:
1 year of Version 11 experience (Cognos)
4 years of experience with Framework Manager
