Title: Cognos Administrator
Location: Farmington Hills, MI
Duration: Long Term
Description:
System administration of the Cognos tool and the environment
Support in developing, maintaining and supporting a business intelligence strategy
Create detailed project plan and manage project implementation
Set report and cube development guidelines to standardize development process.
Support the development and training of all Cognos users.
Administer the publishing of all approved Cognos reports and Cubes
Provide technical support to Cognos power users.
Help troubleshoot Cognos infrastructure related problems.
Document Cognos standards and procedures.
Implement and maintain Cognos security.
Interface with the vendor for elevated technical support.
Monitor/support batch processes and servers for performance issues.
Framework development/redesign by working closely with stake holders and other Cognos development teams.
Design/develop functional analytical cubes and the associated ETL process.
Develop dependencies, alerts, trend analysis and dashboards to monitor and support the infrastructure.
Manage Cognos BI reporting, while utilizing best practices and innovative ideas to build, maintain, distribute and educate users on the reporting & query functionality of Cognos BI.
Requires excellent organization and communication skills.
Apply expertise to the implementation of Business Intelligence application to support global reporting.
Play pivotal role in delivering quality BI solutions using BI/ Data Integration/ Predictive Tools working with multiple cross functional teams.
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Systems or Information Technology
Experience in Cognos BI configuration, administration and environment troubleshooting with multiple versions of IBM Cognos.
Must have experience in developing and publishing packages using Framework Manager
Must have experience in IBM Cognos Major Version Upgrade projects by utilizing various techniques and BI Industry best practices.
Experienced in Metrics Manager, Metric Designer and Metrics deployment
Experienced in Dynamic Cubes design best practices along with deployment techniques with large data
Must have experience with publishing/deploying Cognos objects across various environments.
Must have design principles of Framework manager model, design principles of relational and dimensional data models
Expertise with Data Modeling, Database design, and proficiency with SQL scripting in Analytics and associated areas.
Expertise with in-depth analysis of SQL queries, query Optimization, redesign capability for meta-data models, report design and cube designs against regular Data Warehouse, Data Marts & Operational Data Store.
PL/SQL and relational database experience a strong plus
Very good knowledge and expertise with use of Cognos Software Development Kit [SDK] and support various enhancements as well as new initiatives
Must have strong experience with UNIX/Linux and virtual environments.
Expertise in Unix Shell Scripting, OS tunings to support application life cycle.
Must have AutoSys integration expertise and other native scheduling techniques.
Good to have cross functional/technical knowledge on ETL and Data Modeling tools with wide variety of traditional data based and advanced.
Good to have SAS administration skills.

Proven ability to work both independently and in team environments
Nice to have Open Source Data Integration, Reporting, analytical and visualization tools
