Job Description:

Division of Instructional and Information Technology (DIIT) has a large storage infrastructure which supports virtualization services. The storage arrays and SAN switches are the part of the foundation for providing reliable and expandable server and virtualization infrastructure for critical applications like STARS, SESIS, NYCSA, NGN, and SEMS. We are leveraging flash-based storage arrays, as short-term storage nodes, and long-term archivers, all connected using the latest SAN fabric.
The Senior Systems Engineer is responsible for maintaining and supporting DIIT’s SAN infrastructure and will be a key member of the Virtualization and Storage Group.

Job Functions:

Develop, implement, Architect, maintain and troubleshoot an enterprise level SAN environment including the following technologies
Storage: XtremeIO, VNX, Unity, VmWare VSAN and other latest technologies
Fabric: Cisco MDS enterprise switches including MDS 9710, 9509, 9148),
Cisco 6248 Fabric Interconnect
Backup: Veeam, Networker or other enterprise class backup products and
EMC Datadomain.
Maintain VMware ESX storage assignments, capacity planning, virtual disks, and Storage vMotion, storage clusters, and VASA.
Properly maintain inventory of Infrastructure equipment.
Develop, implement, provision, and troubleshoot storage architecture and proficient in documenting.
Monitor performance, disk health, and data storage integrity
Perform regular capacity planning and usage trending
Coordinate with Virtualization and Windows Server Ops during all phases including design, implementation and production support.
Maintain highly available and scalable environments in a zero unplanned downtime configuration
Work with Automation tools and scripting languages to integrate storage with VMware and other Cloud based platforms.
Manage the lifecycle of hardware and break-fix, including the RMA process with resellers and vendors.
Respond to all customer problems and inquiries, both within local office and remote support.
Responsible for configure, troubleshoot the zoning, zoning issues, port errors, ISL, ICL tunnels ,analyze switch / port performance/diagnostics on the Brocade director switch models using the (DCFM) Data Center Brocade Fabric Manager and the command line interface, Cisco Fabric Manager & Device Manager and CLI. Complete code and microcode upgrades. Use Knowledge on IP networking including routing and firewall rules. Handling Data Center Operations and remote system administration with Business & Mission critical applications. This is an individual contributor position.
Provision storage using EMC Control Center, Unisphere, VMAX, XtremeIO, VPlex, and Navisphere and assist in server configurations

Candidates should have at least 84 months experience and a majority of the following should apply:

1. 84+ months of experience planning, designing and installing SAN/storage and backup solutions, preferably with UCS, EMC, Networker, VEEAM, Puppet technologies - Months
2. 84+ months of experience supporting and troubleshooting virtual infrastructure using CISCO UCS/MDS technologies - Months
3. 84+ months of experience developing disaster recovery, backup, and business continuity plans - Months
4. 84+ months of experience installing and configuring SAN Switching technologies - Months
5. 84+ months of experience supporting VMware virtual environments - Months
6. 84+ months of experience automating jobs via scripting languages for storage arrays, and/or virtual environments - Months
7. 84+ months of experience in performance tuning and load balancing - Months
8. 84+ months of experience in optimization and troubleshooting of enterprise-level storage technologies - Months
9. Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution or Certifications from VMWare, EMC, Cisco platforms - Months
