Job Description:

In order to migrate all Schools Data circuits from Verizon to LighTower, DIIT/Service Delivery & Network Operations/Facilities Management is in the process of deploying some major projects including, but, not limited to, a network expansion project involving the installation and deployment of Cisco Nexus equipment, deployment of Cisco devices at our ISC locations in all five boroughs, Central headquarters campus location upgrades of WAN/LAN Cisco equipment for (4) key building sites in Brooklyn, which includes WAN equipment upgrades, electrical services provisioning, and fiber/copper patch panel and cabling retrofitting. We require one (1) network engineer to provide network support for integration of EVPL connectivity to our administrative and instructional locations. Experienced Level III Router/Switch/Firewall (WAN) Network Engineers will be vital to the completion of all the mentioned projects

The candidate will be responsible for design and implementation of network devices and connectivity to our administrative and instructional arms of the DOE enterprise network.
The candidate will support the operation of the network infrastructure through coordination with support teams, internal customer technicians and engineers, ensuring that the network infrastructure continues to function at optimal performance.
The candidate will maintain all highly technical network infrastructure hardware devices in compliance with defined architectures governed by the Architecture Standards Team.
The candidate will ill interface with WAN support, LAN support, network integrators, DOE network engineers, Project Connect network engineers, and other support teams to oversee that compliance and direction are maintained with the placement of network hardware into the overall DOE enterprise topology.

Candidates should have at least 84 months experience and a majority of the following should apply:

1. 84 + Months supporting day to day operations that include routing, switching, firewalls, wireless, and . #of months 15
2. 24 + Months configuring load balancing for internal and external facing government applications #of months 10
3. 24 + Months providing periodic network traffic and security status reports. #of months 10
4. 24 + Months Preparing network diagrams, floor plans, and schematics using Visio where required #of months 10
5. 24 + Months Responding to emergency calls in the evenings and on weekends regarding WAN / LAN outages #of months 10
6. 84 + Months with Hands-on experience with Cisco Nexus family of switches, Cisco Catalyst Switches 6xxx, 5xxx, 4xxx, 29xx, 19xx, RSM; Cisco Routers 7500, 7200, 4000, 3600, 2600, 2500, 800; Cisco VPN 3000 #of months 10
7. 48 + Months experience working with large LAN/WAN infrastructure and all LAN and WAN networking technologies including communication protocols and Cisco communication equipment #of months 5
8. Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) #of months 5
9. Bachelor’s Degree in computer science from an accredited college #of months 5
