OVERVIEW:
This position will have opportunity to work as a DRE on a high performance engine project.
The successful candidate will leverage their 3+ years of Powertrain experience from concept to production.
DRE experience is required.

Skill Team Roles:
The design skill team provides the required system, subsystem, and component design expertise to projects.

Areas of support include but are not limited to:
engine structure, cranktrain, power cylinder, cylinder head, valvetrain and timing drive, cooling system, lubrication and vent system, EGR, and sealing systems.

Design skill team members are expected to have the following responsibilities:
Ownership of engine and system-level specifications
Use and maintenance of Product Data Management (PDM) systems to store and manage product data
Ownership of the project Bill of Materials (BOM)
Active participation in design reviews
Adherence to published design, checking, and release processes
Support for procurement activities
Approval authority on incoming material
Leadership of engine builds
Overall responsibility for the quality and delivery of project hardware, from concept through production
The Project Engineer II - Design & Release works on all phases or aspects of projects aligned with the design skill team, and is specifically focused on the delivery of production programs.
This role is expected to lead the design development of engine systems by coordinating cross functional design and engineering work on customer projects working with a cross functional team of designers, analysts, development engineers, and external interfaces (i.e., customers, suppliers, and manufacturing), With the following specific responsibilities

Specific Job Roles:
Owns the overall delivery of validated product hardware into high-volume production
Plans, schedules, and coordinates support staff, with minimal supervison, to efficiently deliver products from concept through production.
Drives the agreement and documentation of product specifications/requirements
coordinate the creation of product 3D CAD Data and 2D Drawings
Initiates the design review and sign-off process for areas of responsibility
Owns the assessment of product risks and drives mitigation actions (i.e., owns the DFMEA)
Follows the design release and engineering change management processes applicable to the project/customer
Manages the Bill of Materials (BOM) related to area of responsibility
Provides support for Procurement of hardware in all phases: mule, DV, PV, and production
Drives the design verification activities required in all program phases (i.e., DVP&R)
Identifies and negotiates with suppliers for the manufacture of prototype hardware
Interfaces and negotiates with production suppliers and participates in the assessment and mitigation of productions risks (i.e., participates in the production supplier''s PFMEA)
Interfaces and negotiates with production manufacturing personnel
Responsibility for reports and presentations (internal and to customer)
Resolves engineering and design conflicts. Being able to judge when to escalate to project management, chief engineer, etc.
Maintains interfaces with other systems of the overall project.
Coordinates work effectively to meet tight deadlines
Supports the development of customer relationships in order to secure additional and future business
Develops positive working relationships with other functional teams and departments, locally and globally
Communicates and interacts regularly with team members, solicits feedback, and is sensitive and supportive to staff needs
Assumes accountability for individual and team delivery

QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor and/or Master degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related field)
3+ years experience in powertrain design engineering
Working knowledge of all elements of a powertrain system
Foundational knowledge of internal combustion engine fundamentals
Excellent knowledge of more than one area of engine systems
Specific expertise in at least one engine system
Good understanding of other engineering disciplines, especially structural & dynamic analysis, mechanical development & durability, and quality management tools
Understands and has used 3D CAD tools
Outstanding communication and presentation skills
NX CAD system and Teamcenter experience
