THE POSITION DUTIES INCLUDE:
Tailoring existing R packages to the Client''s needs. Specifically the Data Discovery and Data Analysis applications that use the dataRetreival package in R.
Writing R packages that takes the inputs from the data discovery and data analysis applications and determines waterbody attainment or impairment status based available data in a format that is compatible with EPA’s ATTAINS database.
The contractor will be developing R packages that essentially takes surface water quality data and determine if complex water quality standards are being met. The contractor will use existing R code that determines the number of samples and exceedances for most parameters and write code to enable Client to add in the standards that are not currently covered by EPA’s data discovery tool. The contractor will also write a package that enables Client to make waterbody attainment or impairment decisions based on existing inputs and logic that is compatible with EPA’s ATTAINS database.
Required skills:
Experience with R with an emphasis on data manipulation, graphing and reporting.
Expert with using existing R packages (dplyr, tidyr, ggplot2, shiny and all relevant data manipulation, graphing and reporting packages)
Experience developing packages in R with a shiny interface
Experience with other languages such as python or SQL. (Desired)
Experience inputting data from web services and other data sources
Experience modifying existing R packages to suit client’s objectives
Preferred experience with surface water quality data and USGS and EPA’s dataRetrieval package
Able to work with the customer to develop a project plan based on business need
Able to work remotely if unable to work locally.
