This is a Senior Business Systems Analyst position to work as a liaison with the business teams, technology teams, and support teams to drive software and testing requirements to improve the products and services being delivered by the IT organization. Primary duties to include: Collecting, managing, and documenting software requirements for development and Quality Assurance teams; Leading information gathering and analysis efforts for projects, and analyzing and documenting affected system architecture with solution architects; developing functional artifact documentation, and creating and executing test scripts and project plans.
This position will additionally assist project managers in project activities, support the integration and development of training materials, work with business and IT groups through all phases of the software development life-cycle, and communicate often and effectively across all business and IT teams. Tasks related to software Change Management functions and process are included in this role.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work with business users to gather and document business requirements and facilitate translation to define business, technical requirements, and testing requirements.
Work with subject matter experts to decompose business goals into project scope, high-level requirements, and detailed requirements.
Serve as a liaison between developers, architects and designers, and with internal business partner and/or vendor companies.
Elicit business requirements from partners and translate into functional specifications and assist in technical design.
Support cross-functional linked project teams to address business or systems solutions.
Support the business and IT teams by assisting with functionality questions, testing, implementation, and other deployment and delivery functions, as assigned.
Create process engineering and business flow assessments to ensure appropriate engineering of solutions.
Recognize opportunities for system or process improvement and make recommendations or take appropriate action.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Undergraduate degree in CS/MIS/CIS/Technology or Business Analysis related field or equivalent experience/training.
5 years of relevant technical or business work experience.
Experience in various aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle.
Experience in various project methodologies and tools, to include Agile methodology.
Possess experience managing requirements within at least one software development methodology on projects of moderate scale.
Ability to plan strategically for current and future business environments, including future technology and business design changes to create flexible solutions.
Experience with generating documentation on system flows, engineering documentation, tools and architecture concepts. Skilled in a variety of diagram types (such as flow charts, sequence diagrams, etc, with knowledge to apply appropriate diagram style based on purpose.
Understanding of business systems and industry requirements, and full technical knowledge of systems analysis.
Experienced in eliciting customer requirements, work flow behaviour and evolving industry trends.
Well organized, able to succeed in a sense-of-urgency environment leveraging best practices, and innovate through any problem with a can-do attitude.
Proficient in MS Office and MS Project applications.
Requires understanding of SQL data concepts and Proficiency in SQL queries to analyze, manipulate data, investigate data problems, and develop/modify reports
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Experience in IT audit data feeds to ensure integrity
Experience working with a variety of information systems and data files, including large and complex files: analyzing file structure, using and creating file layouts, transforming raw data into finished products
Experience in airline industry finance/accounting business systems preferred.
