Project Description:
The Sr. Business Analyst collaborates with the business and IT stakeholders to define requirements for application development. The Sr. BA plays a critical role in facilitating business process discussions, redesigning to solve inefficiencies, laying the foundation for application support, and enhancement planning. The Sr. BA interviews subject matter experts to learn about current and desired future state processes, identifying how technology should support those processes. They create artifacts (use cases) to capture requirements, assumptions, and alternative paths, from which design plans are developed. This role interacts directly with business users, vendors, build and support teams to identify and provide innovative solutions in response to business requirements. In addition, the Sr. BA collaborates on detailed designs and test plans, ensuring traceability from business goals to requirements definition to production delivery.
This position requires strong communications skills, both oral and written to partner with the business and represent functional requirements to technical teams and vendors. The Sr BA must translate business descriptions into technical specifications. Requires extensive use of the MS Office Suite.
Job Responsibilities:
- Compiles background information on current state processes; reviewing application artifacts, interviewing business and IT stakeholders, analyzing application performance, survey and/or Help Desk data, to achieve a comprehensive overview of the business issue or objective.
- Develop use case models illustrating desire/proposed future state. Document assumptions, alternative paths, dependencies and risks. Analyze data elements and recommend data maintenance routines, evaluating systems of record and impact on integrations.
- Present use case models to business and technical teams, validating findings and plans. Collect formal business acceptance of target state requirements.
- As directed, develop test plans to validate that delivered functionality addressed agreed upon requirements. Participate in testing and document results, ensuring any issues are addressed.
- Contribute to project and release planning, recommending communications, deployment, change control mechanisms, etc. to ensure initiatives stay on track.
- Facilitate business process redesign efforts to identify operational improvements and to maximize the technology asset. Document new processes and work with the stakeholders to implement.
- Provides direction and feedback to the support/technical teams to ensure solutions satisfy business requirements.
- Develop a comprehensive understanding of business processes to maximize efficiency and effectiveness of technology solutions and to streamline requirements definition process for ongoing application development
- Develop and maintain documentation on assigned applications to adhere to our best practices. Create and execute processes and procedures aligned with IT and HW goals/objectives.
- Build relationships with Business Partners to understand short and long range goals.
- Informs upper management of progress, risks, etc. Advise on key issues to help the decision making process.
- Leverage exceptional analytical skills to reduce a problem into component parts, developing requirements from multiple perspectives. Gain feedback from diverse stakeholders and develop iterative discussion cycles, to refine business expectations/objectives and validate requirements.
