Job Title: Systems Engineer II – Build Engineer
Location: Charlotte, NC
Shift Timing: 3rd Shift, 8:00 PM EST- 5:00 AM EST

Position Summary:
The IT Infrastructure Engineering - Build team vertical of Enterprise Data Center organization has responsibilities for server infrastructure design, build, deployment and decommissioning of servers and server appliances to support Enterprise projects to setting standards for hardware and software used in the infrastructure.
Overall success of the team is measured by its ability to provide high quality customer-focused services that ensure timely delivery of build requests to keep projects on track.
With a commitment to continuous improvement in maturing and providing rigor in the execution of standards-based processes and procedures, the team will operate with a focus on proactive support and quick response to issues and escalations as they arise. Charter Communications is in search of a highly motivated IT Manager with a desire for working in a fast-paced environment to manage the Infrastructure Engineering - Build team.

Essential Job Functions:
Critical roles & responsibilities consist of but not limited to:
Creation of Windows virtual machines in VMWare and Hyper-V environments.
Collaborates with project intake teams to determine ideal build specifications prior to the start of any system build.
Efficiently and accurately build, document, and deploy the agreed upon IT system solution in a timely manner to meet business timelines and support needs.
Verifies the proposed end-state follows enterprise system standards and engineers / deploys all enterprise systems within the National Data Centers and network spaces.
Works in conjunction with associated technology partners and other Data Center teams to ensure system implementations are performed in a timely manner.
Refining, maintaining and enforcing baseline/standards/templates around UNIX, Linux and Windows systems.
Seeks out ways to improve day-to-day tasks with automation written in BASH and/or PowerShell.
Be a leader and management driver in the hardware ordering/provisioning process.
Work with associated teams to insure assets are effectively logged, updated, tracked and reported on within the designated inventory database tool (Enterprise Systems Database (ESD)/CMDB/etc.
Work closely with Enterprise Architecture team to lead the testing and implementation of new technologies and work to select the next generation technologies to be used.

Required Qualifications:
Experience/Skills required: 2-3 years of system administration experience installing and supporting Unix, Windows, Hardware and server builds is required. Excellent verbal and written communications skills. Able to multitask and pay close attention to detail.
An ability to work independently and as part of a team. Very strong focus on the customer’s needs and willingness to accommodate them. Must be able to independently identify and handle most situations; ability to define problems or objective.

Specialized Skills:
Experience with the following in a systems administration/engineering capacity: Unix/Linux systems: AIX, Red Hat, Oracle Enterprise Linux, Solaris, VMWare; Windows; Security Compliance; Associated hardware: Oracle, Dell, Cisco, HP, IBM, etc.

Preference: Blade Logic, Power Broker, Centrify, Active Directory.
Basic understanding of storage, networking, active directory, DNS, and physical hardware support including setting up out-of-band connectivity and identifying various physical adapters for cabling diagrams.

Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, MIS or minimum of five years equivalent professional work experience. ITIL, RHEL, Solaris, AIX, VMWare, Windows; Vendor specific hardware offerings.

Travel Requirements and Frequency: Rare travel requirements. Approx. 10%
