Billing Center Business Analyst
Basic Purpose/Function:
The Business Analyst IT is a core member of an agile/development team. The Business Analyst communicates fluently with business stakeholders, developers, qa/uat testers, and project managers/scrum masters. Works with business partners to refine/groom/create features and/or stories that can be developed and delivered. Evaluates potential solutions based on the overall impact to the organization, rather than a particular business function/area. Contributes to the success of a project by challenging the business to define the real business problem underlying the needs/requirements being expressed, and ensures proposed solutions are solving the right problem. The Business Analyst IT is completely familiar with the core business area and technology they support.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Collaborates with business communities to collect information, perform analysis, and define business requirements via user stories and business acceptance criteria. Responsible for understanding the business and making recommendations for improvement.
2. Collaborates with agile team to translate the business vision into language that can be consumed by development resources. Conversely, ensures the business understands the solution technology environment and can articulate it in their own words
3. Acts as a primary contact for questions on current/future/past work for business and IT resources.
4. Contribute to best practices. Help evolve the team’s tools & techniques in the areas of enterprise analysis, process modeling, requirements gathering and documentation.
5. Assists in the planning, execution, and analysis of user acceptance testing
6. Provides assistance in the elicitation of business vision and the prioritization of agile feature storyboards and product backlogs.
Knowledge:
Bachelor's Degree in Business, Computer Science, or MIS/Information Technology is desirable.
Hands-on experience as a business analyst capturing business requirements, defining business acceptance criteria, and interfacing with IT development teams.
Knowledge of the Guidewire Insurance Suite (or other insurance platforms), specifically Billing Center and/or Policy Center is a plus.
Knowledge of Insurance billing processes is a must.
Knowledge and experience with agile or waterfall development is a plus.
Skills & Abilities:
Ability to elicit and document the 'what' and 'why' of a business request, separately from the 'how'
Ability to elicit and document current and future state business and technical process flows
Ability to analyze data (ideally via SQL) and review/explain data models
Ability to provide best practice feedback on ui functionality/design
Skilled at facilitation and engaging stakeholders in face-to-face conversations, regardless of domain
Thinks across organizational boundaries and empathizes with customers, both internal and external
Able to anticipate impacts, both positive and negative, to other areas of the organization
Ability to break a problem down into smaller chunks that can be delivered separately (i.e features and stories)
Comfortable with continuous discovery and analyzing work in increments, rather than all at once up front
Ability to promote process improvement and be an advocate for change
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
Comfortable operating in an environment with a considerable amount of ambiguity
Effectively manages priorities across multiple concurrent workstreams. .
Prior Work Experience:
3-5 Years of related work experience.
Education/Certifications:
HS Diploma/GED required
Bachelor's Degree in Business, Computer Science or IT/MIS or equivalent preferred
