Job Title: Big Data Developer
Location: Rockville, MD
Duration: 6 months CTH

COMPANY/POSITION OVERVIEW:
Client is seeking a mid-level Big Data Developer to join our team supporting the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. The qualified candidate will implement Big Data solutions utilizing Apache Spark, Scala language, Cloudera Hadoop and related technologies, and DevOps tools.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
Translate complex functional and technical requirements
Load disparate data sets using SQL, Apache Spark framework, Scala language, and Cloudera Hadoop
Develop and implement big data solutions
Perform complex analysis, design, development, testing, and debugging of computer software
Perform activities related to software design, operating architecture integration, and support in the selection of appropriate tools and technologies.

Mandatory Qualifications (Education, Certifications, Experience, Skills)
5+ years of experience with software engineering in all aspects of the SDLC
3+ years of experience with Apache Spark framework and Scala language
3+ years of experience with Big Data processing and tools, including Hadoop and Cloudera and DevOps practices
2+ years of experience with SQL or comparable database query language
Support the technical lead in conducting design and code reviews
Develop/update Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) documents and artifacts
Support application/code deployment in multiple environments
BA or BS degree in math, computer science, software engineering, or a technical field
Ability to obtain a public trust security clearance
Per FDA requirements, the candidate must meet the residency requirement of having resided in the US for at minimum 3 of the prior 5 years
Ability to work relatively independently to self-manage timelines and self-review work products
Ability to work as a member of an integrated project team

Desired Qualifications (Education, Certifications, Experience, Skills)
2+ years of experience with Java or J2EE
2+ years of experience with developing and managing Web services, including REST or SOAP
1+ years of experience with UI, including ReactJS
Experience in Agile development environment and methodologies
Experience with Apache Solr
Knowledge of structured and unstructured data
