Business Analyst/IT Data Analyst for IT Data Strategy Foundation
Position Overview
Client’s Information Technology, Program and Project Management group is currently seeking a professional who will work as a Business and IT Analyst to support in IT Data Strategy Foundation project. The Analyst should be frequently able to act as scrum master for the project. The goals of the project include
IT Data Model: Define IT Data Model with data sources for consumption into the IT Data Lake. In additional, this stream will define the Data Governance, Management and Analytics priorities for the IT Data Lake. A data gap analysis to determine if new IT data needs to be collected. CMDB Maturity will rely on inputs from completion of IT Data Model.
IT Data Lake Prototype: Build out of IT Data Lake using a Big Data cluster like Hadoop. This will include consumption of sample data from non-prod systems of record that will be used to complete initial use case analytics. This person will be the primary Business Analyst, technical writer of the project and can work with Data Engineers, Data Scientists, Architects and work as Data Analyst as per need. The technology used for the project includes Hadoop ecosystem, relational data stores, Data Integration techniques, XML, Python, Spark, SAS, R, emerging Big Data tools and technologies, Visualization tools in Big Data.
Example of data sources include: ServiceNow, Troux, Splunk, Tripwire, SailPoint, Tufin (Firewall monitoring), ADDM, Flexera, vSphere, Solarwinds, Opnet, OpenShift
Responsibilities include:
Business Analyst:
- Work with stakeholders of the project and to understand and deliver on business requirements
- Work closely with the core technology team and to document the use cases for Analytics, including data requirements for use case execution
- Understand data models, data policies, including privacy and security standards, as well as, mitigation techniques (e.g. masking, de-identifying, security)
- Understand large, complex data systems to aggregate, organize the data for use in business analytics, including structuring unstructured/semi-structured data The individual should have strong written and oral communication skills. The Analyst will support the project team to adhere to the client Agile Project controls. Scrum and Product Owner
- The Analyst should be able to act Scrum Master to support client Agile Methodology. This individual may have additional responsibilities for facilitating the scrum meetings and ceremonies. The individual may have to support the Product Owner document use cases or user stories.
Qualifications
- Requirements/Critical and Analytical Skills
- 3 to 9 years relevant, related work experience
- Ideally looking for 7-10 years of experience but willing to interview candidates with lesser experience for the lower rate based on experience.
- Demonstrated flexibility and adaptability to changes
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team
- College Degree or equivalent experience
- Ability to thrive in a highly ambiguous, fast paced environment where priorities shift rapidly
- Five or more years of direct experience in one or more aspects of Information Technology (Software design/ development, IT Architecture or other related IT areas)
Preferred Skills
- Experience working with Data Engineers and Scientists
- Knowledge of data, master data and metadata related standards, processes and technology
- Experience working with multi-Terabyte data sets (structured, semi/unstructured data)
- Working in technology environment including Unix/Linux environment, SQL and NoSQL databases
- Understanding of Big Data Computing Platform (using PySpark) and Big Data Manipulation Tools (Hive, and Pig)
- Advanced Studies degree
- Certified Scrum Master (CSM) or Certified Scrum Product Owner
- Version One tool experience preferred
- Experience in the Mortgage industry, client, and information management needs
