Enterprise Cloud Operations Engineer

Description
The Enterprise Cloud Operations Engineer position will oversee Cloud operations to ensure the environments health, stability, manage the daily cloud based systems utilizing AWS, Azure, Oracle, and Google cloud platforms to ensure the availability, performance, scalability and security of cloud based systems.

Responsibilities
Oversee, participate in and manage production deployments within the various Cloud environments.
Responsible for reviewing designs, deployment, and hands-on implementation of Cloud solutions.
Strong understanding of Amazon services (IaaS, SaaS, PaaS, DBaaS
Strong understanding of services utilized by cloud vendors (AWS, Oracle, Azure, Google
Familiarity with Cloud Watch, Trusted Cloud Advisor, Cloud Trail, Guard Duty, Cost Explorer, Cloud Checker, Splunk, Turbot, CASB (Cloud Access Security Broker) and other cloud management tools.
Configuration and deployment experience in three or more of the following:
o AWS services such as ECS, RDS, Lambda, VPC’s and S3
o Azure services such as Web/Mobile, Containers, Databases, Storage and Identity Management
o Oracle services such as Bare Metal Compute, Fast Connect, Containers, Storage and Database
Participate in the Design, implementation and Operation of application and infrastructure monitoring solutions (Service Now Discovery, Splunk, Qualys

Measure
o Responsible for setting reporting standards, reporting and reviewing the cloud reports.
Review
o Monitoring, Alerting and response to alerts, making and settings standards and policies.
o Review and approve strategic migration plans to move on premise applications to various cloud vendors.
o Review the architectural diagrams for proposed solutions and leads the review with architecture, engineering, and operation teams.
Improve
o Capacity Management within the client cloud environments.
o Mentor the Operations organization and less experienced technical staff.
o Service billing management. Utilize knowledge to detail cost drivers in cloud systems delivery and operations and the consequences of the technical decisions made by you and/or others.
Document
o Strong documentation skills for updating and maintaining a Knowledge Base and knowledge articles. Establish required documentation, standards and policies.
Change Management
o Working knowledge and hands on experience with Service Now and ITIL change management.
o Participate in onboarding systems and services within the cloud environments.
Secure
o Manage security across infrastructure and applications that reside in the cloud.
o Account access oversight, governance and administration.

Provides cloud governance, processes and technical advisory support to business units and projects by working cross-functionally and provide recommendations that support the business needs.
Participant as required (Level 3/escalation point) for Incident Management.
Participate and develop client relationships within Operations, Business partners, Managed Service Providers and Cloud services.
Work with cross-functional teams to support the engineering and implementation of new cloud applications or solutions, and define the related risks.
Responsible for adherence to corporate standards regarding applicable corporate and divisional Policies, including code of conduct, safety, GxP compliance, and data security.
Regular interaction and working relationship with the Cloud engineering and architecture teams to ensure stable cloud Operations.
Participate in risk assessments and audits within the Cloud environments, provide required evidence and findings.
Participate in all aspects of Disaster Recovery as it related to the Cloud environment.


Qualifications

AWS Certified Solutions Architect (Strongly preferred), AWS Certified Solutions Associate, AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner.
Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE) or Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA) desired. PowerShell scripting a plus.
RHEL Certification desired. Advanced knowledge preferred in Linux and System Administration tasks including OS installation, configuration, troubleshooting and management. Linux User Management, Log Analysis, resource utilization and fine tuning. Good knowledge of scripting languages (Python, Ruby, etc Experience working with configuration management tools (Ansible
Oracle Cloud Application Foundation Essentials or Oracle Exalogic Elastic Cloud Implementation desired.
Strong understanding of network and firewall principles and cloud virtualization environments such as AWS.
Docker and/or Kubernetes Experience a plus.
Experience with Continuous Integration and Deployment Pipelines a plus.

Basic

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent education in Technology related field with extensive (typically 8-12 years) of related work; Technical background in healthcare or companies is preferred.
Established experience in Cloud Service development, compute engineering, automation, orchestration, architecture and implementation
Strong background in Operations and/or Infrastructure Engineering.
Strong background in Linux/Unix and/or Windows administration.
Interacts well with diverse groups within function and maintains strong working relationships with internal and external entities.
Background in regulated companies a plus (pharmaceutical, healthcare, financial institutions or similar
Ability to influence others in the technology areas.
Advanced Knowledge of Cloud and Open Source Technologies such as: Service Discovery, Networking, Load Balancing, Containers, Deployment and Scaling, Fault Tolerance and throttling, failure domains and zones, etc.
