Audio/Speech Signal Processing Engineer

Pay rate: Open
Location: Irving, TX

Duration: 6+ Month contract (will likely extend - but their SOWs are on 6 month basis)

You’re joining a multidisciplinary team of product managers, marketers, designers and engineers who research and innovate on latest technology to create awesome digital products that hundreds of thousands of people experience every day.

You are responsible for exploring cutting-edge technologies and prototyping AI and NLP enabled solutions that aim at reducing customer friction and management cost, providing innovative user experience, and increasing revenue. The position requires working in a fast-paced environment which needs a mindset of a startup and an entrepreneur that is not hesitant to constantly shift gears, test and learn.

Key Responsibilities:

Research, develop and evaluate advanced speech processing algorithms and implementations.
Utilize Machine Learning (ML) technology for speech processing
Prototype and develop algorithms and advanced machine learning techniques for audio applications such as speech modeling, 3D audio rendering, speech recognition, blind source separation, and speaker ID.
Stay up to date with tech, prototype with and learn new technologies, proactive in technology communities
Learn from peers in data science and engineering community
Deliver on time with a high bar on quality of research, innovation and engineering

Basic Qualifications:

Master’s degree in Math, Physics, Electrical Engineering or AI/ML areas
3+ years of work experience in voice related projects
2+ years of work experience in software development
Knowledge in signal processing techniques including adaptive filtering, filter banks and wavelet processing, speech analysis and synthesis, speech and audio coding.
Experience in speech enhancement and speech/audio coding and compression.
Hand on experience in feature extraction techniques (GMM, HMM, NMF / spectrograms, MFCC etc) for voice recognition and audio event classification.
2+ years of work experience with at least one of the following languages: Python, Java, and R

Preferred Qualifications:

Ph. D. preferred
2+ years of experience working in Agile team environment
Hand on experience with machine learning techniques such as deep neural nets (DNN, CNN, LSTM-RNN)
Published research on signal processing or machine learning related to voice technology
