Location: Rockwood, IL

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
Under general supervision, performs work of moderate difficulty in providing applications support to District users, operating computer systems and associated peripheral devices.
Develops application scripts, macros, batch files, jobs and programs. May develop these for packages and/or District developed applications. Acts as troubleshooter to users and provides solution or directs users to appropriate source. May assist with training users on applications and software packages as well as installation of same. Performs other duties as assigned by Management.

Develops, as needed, applications-specific scripts, macros, batch (or batch-type) files and programs for packages and District developed applications, following District standards;
Creates and maintains application, job and system documentation;
Communicates with users on a regular basis, supports the users as required;
May verify application and software package logic, test data veracity and test results with appropriate departmental and user department staff Where appropriate, checks reports for accuracy and distributes for departmental pick up;
Performs diagnostic and corrective measures in response to hardware, application, and software problems; consults with appropriate departmental, vendor, and other staff;
Participates in rotational standby for department;
Adheres to all safety procedures, practices, and requirements;
Performs other duties as assigned by Management.

ACCEPTABLE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Good knowledge of information services principles, general office practices and procedures, ability to work effectively with commercial application and software packages. Working skill in using Windows, Word, or similar text or program editor. Working skill in use of personal computers or similar workstations. Working knowledge of some modem programming languages, for example Visual Basic. Must demonstrate excellent internal and external customer service skills.

ACCEPTABLE EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:
Associate''s Degree in Computer Science/Information Systems with a minimum of one (1) year Information Systems Operations and/or programming experience and/or use of commercial application and software packages. Demonstrated experience in using Windows, and/or LINUXlUNIX, andlor IBM mainframe type operating systems. Demonstrated experience working in a Local Area Network (LAN Any equivalent combination of experience and training will be considered,

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Possession of a valid driver''s license from the state of residence at the time of hire with a driving record suitable to the District.
