Third-Party Application Support
Senior technical position with experience interfacing with internal and external vendor teams to address Off-The-Shelf vendor product implementations. The primary focus is to hands-on application support and operational technical support, rotating on-call, project participation, and continuity support for implementation of Third Party vendor products. The candidate will lead detection and troubleshooting of issues that affect delivery of services across multiple platforms: a solid understanding of Unix/Linux shell scripting, Windows environment. Deep knowledge of Oracle/SQLPLUS is necessary.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
Linux and Windows development resource with hands-on production support knowledge capable of resolving all technical issues within lower and upper environments, and making recommendation for performance and capacity improvements
Implementation and troubleshooting of COTS products and solutions
Manage internal resources and partners as well as 3rd parties to identify and solve problems expeditiously.
Provide 24x7 support of production applications on a rotating basis, and participate in resolution of escalated incident calls
Point of escalation accountable for customer support to diagnose and resolve customer issues
Review turnover artifacts to ensure completion prior to executing production installs
Develop statistical metrics for short and long term production performance monitoring
Works with Change Management/ Release Managers on the evaluation of change events and in planning items for production deployment
Perform code installations working with development and Quality Control to monitor and validate successful implementation or fallback. Document installs defects and assigns severities to the problems that occur. When fallback occurs, perform post mortems to identify root cause (RCA
Perform trending and analysis of problems; anticipate problems and develop risk mitigation plans for continuous improvement
Ensures monitoring alerts and system events are assessed, prioritized, and worked aggressively
Maintain and/or create technical support documentation
Job Related Experience:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Information Systems, or equivalent
5+ years of IT experience in a technical production support role or equivalent
with background in Unix and Windows development or operations support with hands-on development using Java, C++, Python or another OO language
Strong communication, moderation and facilitation skills
Strong technical experience with Unix/Linux, and either WebSphere, WebLogic, JBoss
Experience with Oracle (moderate to expert), shell scripting, Sed, AWK
Hands-on knowledge of Oracle, and using SQLPLUS
Strong understanding of multi-tier architecture and infrastructure configurations
Familiarity with common networking practices
Must have full life-cycle development experience in a large financial services firm
Analytical problem solving skills to solve complex problems and independent judgement to identify problems and recommend solutions
Experienced in Agile and DevOps environments and cultures.
Certifications: Knowledge of ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library) production support best practices
