AWS Engineer

Required:
AWS Engineer to support a large financial client based in Baltimore, MD.
Amazon Web Services (AWS) Engineer to assist in the on-going integration of AWS environment. The position will require knowledge of multiple technologies and systems as well as good interpersonal and communication skills. The position requires working independently and collaboratively.
Responsibilities
Experience with AWS Services (EC2, S3, CloudWatch, VPCs, security groups, Rte 53, ALB, and ELB to name a few
Build, scale, and secure infrastructure, focusing on an AWS on-prem and cloud environment
Refine and automate regular processes, track issues, and document changes
Configure and maintain servers and processes, including monitoring of system health and performance, to ensure high levels of performance, availability, and security
Provide high-level and detailed consultative solutions and technical support for cloud-related opportunities
Verify and monitor on premise and cloud environments and controls to ensure processes are mature and capable of supporting our objectives and best practice design
Recommend alternate choices, trade-offs, and impact analysis
Work with technical teams and senior architects to finalize specifications related to integration between numerous systems; including but not limited to public, private, and hybrid cloud designs.
Coordinate testing efforts to identify and resolve system integration issues
Research, experiment with, and inform on emerging technologies and tooling to improve the developer and member experience
Adhere to vendor and industry best practices whenever possible to ensure operational integrity.
Responding to escalations
Working with applications, database and infrastructure engineering team on solutions / enhancements
Share technical expertise providing technical mentorship and cross-training to other peers and team members
Review project requirements and provide recommendation based on best-fit and/or best-of-breed considerations Skills and Qualifications
Experience working in team-oriented, collaborative environment and with teams spread across multiple locations across multiple time zones
Provide L3 Production support
Prepare individual AWS Services for risk management and determine security standards
Support DevOps teams with Solution Architecture, Solutions Design and Engineering
Must possess good documentation skills (creating KBs, runbooks, topology etc
Strong working knowledge in with AWS Services (EC2, S3, CloudWatch, VPCs, Security groups, Rte 53, ALB, and ELB etc
Knowledge and experience with automation tools (Terraform, Cloudformation, JSON, YAML, Powershell
Self-motivated, directed and with keen attention to detail
Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills as well as strong logical, analytical and problem solving skills
Experience with Performance Tuning and Optimization, using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools as well as 3rd party tools
Ability to present ideas in user-friendly language
Forward thinking in the potential use of future technology
Sets up administrator and service accounts and troubleshoot creates/updates and Maintains system documentation, interacts with users and evaluates vendor products, deep understanding of monitoring AWS instances and services
Amazon Web Services (AWS) platform capabilities and best practices architectures, and engineering solutions within multiple Cloud accounts and services
Experience working in AWS via the CLI and management console.
Knowledge and experience architecting and configuring Virtual Private Clouds
(VPCs)
Experience working with administrator and service accounts and troubleshoot Creates/updates and Maintains system documentation, interacts with users and evaluates vendor products
Operations for firewalls, routers and switches and the ability to formulate access control lists (ACLs) via the Command Line Interface (CLI
Strong knowledge of software evaluation principles and practices.
Development and implementation of vulnerability remediation strategies. Configuration and execution of vulnerability and web application scans. Customization compliance scans to meet agency established baselines.
Experience with automating server configuration for security including logging, key changes, and system hardening.
Experience writing process requirements, technical design documents, and standard operating procedures.
Experience collaborating with cross functional global and remote teams with diverse backgrounds.
