AIX Administrator

6 Months Contract to Hire
Our ideal candidate is an AIX administrator with experience in RHEL (RedHat Enterprise Linux Candidate will need to know HACMP/PowerHA.
Soft skills require someone willing to jump in and assist with the day-to-day nitty-gritty work
MUST HAVE:
1) 5 years of experience troubleshooting AIX/Linux issues as an Administrator
2) Excellent skills with HACMP/PowerHA servers
3) Knowledge of Red Hat Linux computing
4) Ability to monitor and troubleshoot services on production servers (physical and virtual)
5) Proficient written and verbal communication skills, including technical writing ability
6) Intermediate knowledge of the fundamentals of Linux scripting languages
The AIX Administrator provides operational support for the Client’s Enterprise Server infrastructure. The AIX Administrator monitors the environment for outages, performance, and capacity-related issues. In this role we will expect you to resolve issues as quickly as possible with our tools and ITIL-based processes and procedures.
Detailed Description:
Providing administration, infrastructure, and system support in a managed, co-located, and high availability infrastructure environment
Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to the AIX/Linux and Unix environment
Manage issues through an Incident queue, detailing each incident with notes of all troubleshooting steps taken to resolve an incident
Demonstrate the ability to think critically and creatively
Required Skills:
A minimum of five years of experience troubleshooting AIX/Linux issues as an Administrator
Excellent skills with HACMP/PowerHA servers
Proficient written and verbal communication skills, including technical writing ability
Intermediate knowledge of the fundamentals of Linux scripting languages
Must have knowledge of Red Hat Linux computing
Ability to monitor and troubleshoot services on production servers (physical and virtual)
Help develop, document, and implement operational runbooks
Preferred Skills:
Experience with services such as Nagios, Apache, Chef, Puppet, and Bigfix
Experience with virtualization technologies, such as VMware
Can work and respond to a dynamic work flow and respond to high-pressure situations
Knowledge of networking, TCP/IP, routers, switches, and load balancers
Proficient in technology protocols such as FTP, SSH, SFTP, etc.
