JOB TITLE: ACTIVE DIRECTORY ENGINEER – SME

GC/EAD OR CITIZEN

POSITION SUMMARY:

MUST HAVE a Security Background.
Responsible for supporting and maintaining Microsoft Active Directory.
Familiar with the Microsoft Windows Server Operating system, , and VMWare Virtualization technologies in the environment.
This includes planning for and responding to service outages and other problems, and being a Tier 3 escalation point for moderately complex Active Directory problems beyond the knowledge of other technical support staff.
Ensures customer satisfaction by advising customers on preventative maintenance and configurations which may impact product performance.
Takes responsibility for potential or desired follow-up services or problem escalation.
Fully qualified server engineer.
High degree of troubleshooting.
Self-starter needing little to no guidance.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & OUTCOMES:

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Management of Active Directory infrastructure, which includes but is not limited to FSMO Roles, trusts, replication topology, and security permissions
Maintains security and integrity of the Active Directory schema
Monitoring and reporting associated with the reliability and security of the domain
Provide hands-on support for all Windows Server Domain Controllers.
Ensure backups on restores are functional and work with the client on development of a disaster recovery plan
Active Directory Policy monitoring and compliance
Ensure overall security and integrity of the managed OU hierarchy
Account management.
Regularly perform housekeeping duties to keep the OU hierarchy clear of stale, unused, expired, and other no longer needed objects
Participate in On-call after-hours support schedule for Active Directory to be performed on a rotational basis.
Train Windows Server staff to participate in the on-call rotation
Review all job aid documentation and follow all step-by-step instructions to ensure work adheres to the customer requirements
Adherence to change and incident management processes.
Work the incident queue to troubleshoot and resolve L3 tickets
Close all support requests tickets in a timely manner with a focus on customer satisfaction and SLAs
Submit RFCs for all changes made in the environment, following documented detailed oriented procedures
Maintain current documentation for all processes and procedures
Good verbal and written communications as the engineer will need to interface with, Windows management, the PMO and the customer to report status
Communicate effectively with customers, peers and supervisors and be the point of the contact for the Server services being delivered.
Chair Operations Meetings with the client, prepare an agenda and keep meeting minutes
Work on project requests and ensuring the Windows management team is kept informed of all project requests that are received.
Focus to ensure all projects are completed on time and within budget

SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Interact with internal customers to resolve issues, respond to requests and understand business requirements in order to optimize the computing environment
Deliver Microsoft operating systems (OS) and Microsoft application patches
Work with vendors as necessary to implement and maintain enterprise technologies
Knowledge of Windows Server 2016, VMWare 5.5 and VBlock
Familiarity with PingOne IAM

REQUIREMENTS:

PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE:

Experience supporting Enterprise Active Directory environment.
Experience as an AD SME
Adhering to ITIL industry standards
Worked in an Healthcare Environment with strict Pharmaceutical Industry Compliance Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

10 years minimum IT experience
Windows Server 2008/2012 certification preferred
Knowledge of Windows Server 2016
10 years minimum experience in an enterprise server environment with both administration and problem resolution of Microsoft Windows Server 2008and above required
7 years minimum working with VMWare products.
Experience supporting a large VMware environment
3 years minimum experience working in VBlock environments
Knowledge of ITIL processes and experience adhering to them in a production environment
Windows Server 2008/2012 Active Directory management including DNS, GPO expertise required.
Professional attitude, appearance and communication skills required
Management of a large VMWare and Windows 2008/2012 environment
