Job Description
Our direct client seeks an experienced MS Access Programmer to debug and troubleshoot the Statewide Planning System, and for form design, database interfaces and database connectivity as well as system documentation. Client system manages and administers the State Planning System (SPS SPS has a MS Access front end with an Oracle server back end. MS Access Programmer is required to assist the client’s Planning Data and GIS team to maintain, troubleshoot, and document SPS system requirements. Client is seeking a self-sufficient programmer who can lead the project and the work which includes debugging, form design, database interfaces and database connectivity.
Job Requirements:
- Design, modify, and debug MS Access software components including VBA code, forms, and reports.
- Migration of older Access databases to run with the newest version of Microsoft Access
- Setup databases using Microsoft Access per the given instructions and modifying them to accommodate the system requirements
- Identifying and understanding the requirements of the users with respect to the system that needs to be developed.
- Testing the system at each stage of the development phase and identifying bugs which could result in negative user experience and to ensure good performance of the database system across various platforms and terminals
- Document changes and updates regarding the system so that everybody is acquainted with the changes and modifications to the system.
- Providing on-site support to end users after the system has been delivered.
- Making necessary modifications to the system on the basis of user feedback and improving the overall usability of the system by providing regular system updates.
- Ability to write necessary Technical Manuals and provide system training/support to new and existing users.
Skill Matrix:
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Access programming and operation including programming in Visual Basic for Access, creating linked tables in Oracle, - Required - 5 Years
- Experience maintaining programs using Microsoft Access 2016 and 2010 - Required - 5 Years
- VBA Programming for MS Access 2010 and MS Office 2016 - Required - 5 Years
- Experience migrating MS Access databases to newer versions - Required - 5 Years
- Experience troubleshooting and mitigating system errors - Required - 5 Years
- Experience developing and maintaining system documentation. - Required - 5 Years
- Proficient MS Access Programmer with at least 5 years’ experience in a lead role - Required - 5 Years
- MS Access development expertise with Oracle Server back-end data sources. - Highly desired - 3 Years
