Job Summary:
The Senior Performance Test Automation Engineer is responsible for planning, design, development and execution of the automated Performance Test processes, Test Plans and Test Scripts. This person will design and implement automated Performance Test suites for various parts and components of our Enterprise level application. This role requires proficiency and strong hands-on experience in developing both manual and automated test scripts.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Plans, creates, maintains and executes detailed Performance and Load Test plans and test scripts.
Generates and maintains test data and the test environment.
Reads, understands and correctly interprets business and technical requirements. Participates in reviews of technical documentation, such as user manuals and suggests improvements and tests incorporated procedures.
Participates in defining overall automation strategy and applying appropriate automation technologies to meet the short and long term quality goals. Responsible for developing and maintaining Performance Test automation framework
Works closely with other Test and Deployment Automation team members in Scaled Agile environment. Actively participates in all Agile ceremonies with the team. Evaluates test processes and procedures and makes recommendations for improvement. Helps develop testing strategies, project plans and risk mitigation strategies.
Collaborates with project stakeholders, engineers, and managers. Takes initiative and ownership, performs as a mentor and helps build a positive, productive work team.
Documents test processes, test plans, test cases, configurations and results.
Maintains and administers test management or configuration management software.
Required Skills
· Ability to create a performance test strategy for large scale enterprise applications
· Extensive experience with performance and load benchmark tests and metrics
· Ability to perform deep dive application performance analysis
· Ability to creatively and efficiently plan, organize and execute independent verification and validation of product functionality, load and performance test types and report results. Must have a strong attention to details.
· Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical software requirements, specifications, or governmental regulations.
· Ability to quickly learn and understand client-server or web application architecture and programs.
· Ability to design automated test frameworks, tests and scripts. Test automation scripting experience should include heavy scripting experience and not just record and play.
· Must understand relational database schemas and be able to write SQL queriesfor data validation.
· Strong experience with performance testing tools (Visual Studio Enterprise Edition, JMeter, LoadRunner
· Strong hand on experience with system monitoring tools (perfmon, vmstat, iostat, netstat, SCOM)
· Experience with .NET profilers, such as DynaTrace
· Hands on experience with scripting languages (JavaScript, PowerShell)
· Experience with designing and developing automated reporting
· Ability to act effectively as a member of an engineering team in a fast paced, dynamic environment. Able to multi-task and adapt quickly.
· Passion to drive for Performance, Scalability and Reliability of the system
· Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to very quickly understand and relate project status and issues via clear verbal and written means.
· Execute test assets including test suites, test plans, test cases, automated and manual test scripts, test harnesses, and test data
· Extensive experience with defect tracking and source code control systems
· Ability to approach testing at different levels - from overall project objectives to specific test cases and scenarios
· Ability to create applications/utilities for Test Data generation
· Web services and client/server architecture testing
· Microsoft IIS (any/all versions)
· Microsoft SQL Server (any/all versions)
· Windows OS (any/all versions of both desktop and server)
· Thorough knowledge of XML and XSD documents and technologies
· Ranorex, Selenium or similar web test scripting
· Management of test environments, including virtual environments.
· Extending an automated framework using Microsoft C# .NET.
