This role has to be technical – the ideal candidate has to have SharePoint Systems Support and Admin experience.  But they also need to have development experience as well.  Because this is a consulting role- they must have excellent communication.  A little accent is ok, but I must be able to understand them, and they must communication very well (they have to have client/business side communication experience  I combined our 2 SharePoint JDs for you (it’s a role that encompasses both skills 



Job Description



SharePoint development lead at the client are called upon to perform various responsibilities in portal and collaboration practice area, usually, in the context of technology assessment, strategy formation, or a development project performed for a particular client. They often lead a team of developers and collaborate with experienced project managers, architects, analysts, designers, and clients to design and deliver vital internal and customer facing systems in partnership with a variety of high profile clients. Typically our lead developer have broad understanding of many tools, technologies and products, with hands on experience in Microsoft SharePoint platform.




Coordinate development and support efforts with the offshore team(s) is must.
Involved in technical decisions that must be make, work with client staff charged with architecture standards, and ensure quality of final results.
Design, implement, integrate and support Microsoft SharePoint platform solutions
Map, develop, and translate requirements into a specification document containing high level of technical design information in support of the development work, as well as create documents that specify strategy, assessment.
Work closely with clients, subject matter experts or analyst to understand the requirements, establish priorities and project scope, and manage expectations and project delivery
Define technical and solution architecture for phased software development delivery
Provide hands-on technical direction to other developers to review code and resolve issues
Proactively Identify areas to improve process efficiency




Requirements              




Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems and/or technical related field or equivalent education/experience.
5 years of work experience in design development of web application using Microsoft SharePoint Platform (with recent experience using SharePoint 2013)
Strong understanding of SharePoint Architecture(Portal Development, Document Management, Web Content Management, Excel Services, Business Catalog Services, Metadata Store, Search, InfoPath, Performance Point, Governance policies)
Strong hands on experience using SharePoint 2013, 2010 and MOSS

Branding (Master Page, Page Layouts, Design Manage and Publishing features, OOB Web Parts, XSLT, CSS, Display templates, Item templates and Navigation(Structural and Managed) 
Custom development(CSOM, Java script framework( JQuery and Jason), Web Services[OData, Restful WCF), SharePoint API, Features, Modules, Workflows(Designer and Visual Studio and Workflow Manager), Content Types, List and Site Templates and Definitions, Event Receivers, Timer Jobs, BCS, LOB Connectors, SharePoint Apps(SharePoint-Hosted, Provider-Hosted and Hybrid), ASP.NET, C#, SQL Server, HTML 5, XML, ATOM, MVVP using Angular or Knockout
SharePoint Services (Search Service Application, Metadata Service Application, User Profile Service Application, Excel Service Application (PowerPivot), Performance Point Application etc
Migration (Content Migration, Farm Migration, Third Party Platform Migration)
PowerShell for system installation, configuration and feature deployment.   
Training and supporting end-users on SharePoint components and functionalities, developing and communicating SharePoint site usage, security policies and standards to all users, working with end-users to develop and document requirements.




Lead Systems Engineer for multiple enterprise SharePoint farms hosting mission-critical applications for a global insurance provider.  Team consists of onshore lead & architect (this role), and 4-5 offshore systems engineers to provide 24x7 support.  Expectation is that this role provides coverage 9-5 PST M-F, with on-call support as required.

The successful candidate will take firm ownership of all enterprise SharePoint farms under their control.  He or she will be able to balance the inherent conflict between system stability/availability and the business need for functional enhancements and customization, and assist development teams with operationalization & best practices for deployments.  The successful candidate will be highly experienced with 10+ years in the field, and love the detailed engineering aspects of the job.

Responsibilities:


Day-to-day oversight and ownership of SharePoint infrastructure service and system health in a major multi-farm enterprise environment
Integrate & coordinate with client engineering teams, building trust and ensuring technical stakeholder relationship health
Design & implement best-practices for monitoring, patching, & maintaining SharePoint systems, and managing deployments
Implement capture and reporting on managed service metrics, and ensure that SLA targets are met
Manage and mentor junior team members, and outline training and certification paths accordingly 


Required Qualifications


10+ years of experience as a system engineer managing large-scale SharePoint implementations (FIRM)
Ability to manage and govern SharePoint 2010 farms with multiple servers, including patching, upgrading and restoring services after failure
Ability to provision new farms or servers using PowerShell
Ability to configure SharePoint service applications and other functionality using Central Administration or PowerShell as appropriate
Experience with managing and deploying “full trust solutions” in a shared environment
Experience with configuring, deploying and maintaining “App Model” solutions
Deep experience with PowerShell, including the DRDADA approach for automated solution deployment
Experience managing a ticketing queue for user support
Deep understanding of SharePoint permissions
Excellent understanding of SQL Server, and how to manage SharePoint or other applications that are deployed on it, including implementing and maintaining farms with SQL AlwaysOn
Experience with underlying Windows Server management
Experience using ULS and system logs to interpret event causes and risks
Experience with virtualized server infrastructure such as VMWare or Hyper-V
Experience with cloud server infrastructure, such as AWS or Azure
Network load balancing/Virtual IPs
Understanding of claims authentication, federated identity and single sign-on
Ability to configure and manage DNS, Active Directory and AD FS
Basic understanding of “related platforms and services” such as Lync/Skype or Exchange
Third party migration tools
Custom code or PowerShell migration for special cases
Deep understanding of the differences between On-Prem SharePoint and Office 365 and what it takes to successfully migrate from one to the other
Ability to understand how customizations can impact a migration, and how to remediate issues.


We need a strong consultant here, who can wear many hats as-needed and drive outcomes.  Rigid mindsets, poor cultural fit, or language difficulties will be blockers for acceptance.
