JOB DESCRIPTION :
Need 12+ Yrs Sr Cognos Developer
SCOPE OF SERVICES: Hands-on experience working in Cognos 10.2 BI products (Report Studio, Query Studio, Event Studio, Workspace
Experience in Cognos Framework Manager data modeling and the development of packages accessing various data sources including SQL Server and DB2.
Experience in designing and developing complex Cognos BI reports using Cognos Report Studio with various databases, including SQL and DB2.
Experience in writing reports involving multiple prompts, conditional formatting, filters, bursting, multi-page and multi-query reports and have the knowledge of using SQL query writing skills.
Develop and maintain dashboards and apply data visualization best practices.
Perform testing and report modifications.
Perform performance tuning of Cognos reports.
Provides Cognos application support to the Business Units and researches to resolve Cognos technical issues.
Ability to provide independent problem-solving skills and able to demonstrate ability to multi-task, apply initiative, and provide creativity on challenging projects. Self-motivated, responsible, conscientious, and detail oriented.
Conducts requirements meetings with end-users utilizing quantitative, analytical and business skills and knowledge in an effort to understand crucial data needs for different business users.
Ability to perform project management activities including project documentation, business requirements and project tracking.
Communicate and interact with Application Developers, Database Administrators.
Manage report security, folder security, database row level security, report schedules and distribution
Strong understanding and working knowledge of Relational/Star Schema modeling and design as well as Web Services (COGNOS Web Services, HTML, XML, etc
Good verbal and written communication skills with the ability to clearly and accurately document procedures.
Ability to adapt to new BI technologies and be willing to research new topics and functionality.
Knowledgeable of financial system applications big plus.
MANDATORY SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
Minimum 4 years of experience working in Cognos
Minimum 4 years of Experience working with planning, process analysis, and problem solving.
Minimum 3 years of Experience working experience in Cognos Framework Manager data modeling and the development of packages accessing various data sources including SQL Server and DB2.
Minimum 4 years of Experience working with Microsoft Office products such as MS Project, MS Access, Visio, PowerPoint, Excel and Word.
Minimum 4 years of Experience in software engineering and information technology.
Minimum 4 years of Experience in Microsoft SQL Server databases, SQL Reporting tools
Minimum 4 years of Experience working with Microsoft TFS, TFS Release Manger and Cognos .
DESIRABLE SKILLS/EXPERIENCE: - Excellent written and verbal communication skills and aptitude for cross group collaboration.
