Sr. Solutions Engineer - Servers (Operational Engineering) 

Arlington, Virginia

6 Months- CTH

Work Authorization: US Citizen

Client: USAID (United States Agency for International Development)

The candidate must be a US Citizen with Secret or higher clearance/ Clearable

Primary job is to ensure that the USAID Global IT Infrastructure is robust, scalable, secure and efficient in supporting the IT systems and services.

Key Skills, Experiences and Responsibilities:

Serves as a liaison between IT Engineering and Operations teams with critical thinking and strong communication skills
Serves to oversee and validate the work of other contractors providing operational support to USAID IT Infrastructure specifically in terms of designs, deliverables and alignment with required USAID architecture and security policies
Deep and Strong fundamental understanding and experience with design, implementation, integration and maintenance (at a global enterprise scale), of :

Microsoft Server

Active Directory and related directory services
System Center Configuration Manger  (SCCM)
Windows 10
Azure and AWS cloud platforms
SSO concepts and technologies to include Kerberos, ADFS, SAML, PingFederate amongst others

IT generalist with broad experience and strong current understanding of all IT domains (Infrastructure ,Networking, Servers, Applications engineering, Security, Mobile, Cloud, Big Data, IT Standards and related RFCs and others)

Good fundamental understanding of IT Infrastructure/Networking concepts, practices, tools and technologies to ensures related IT Infrastructure products and systems comply with requirements and government information assurance and cyber security standards and practices through formal verification methods.
Good fundamental understanding of the principles of IT security and cyber security tools and technologies to include:

Nextgen Firewall
Malware protection
Intrusion Protection systems

Prepare assessments and cyber threat profiles of current and planned products based on sophisticated testing, research, and analysis.
Reviews test plans/procedures and ensure they verify/validate the security requirements.
Experience working with Federal Security Regulations including FISMA, FedRAMP, OMB Circular A-130, NIST, Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX), Special Publication Series 800 and FIPS Publications

Engage in an assessment of the USAID IT Server infrastructure to develop an as-is and to-be states by working with the stakeholders and factoring in gaps, strategic goals and challenges in the current environment

Experience in conducting root cause analysis of IT server infrastructure and malfunctions and their remedial strategies
Experience with analysis of IT Service Desk Tier 2,3 incidents to determine areas of improvement and focus for user training
Provide technical support as IT consultant to C level executives and solution engineering teams
Support the timely resolution of selected Tier 3 or higher IT Infrastructure trouble tickets in the above mentioned areas
Experience with Operating Systems, Network devices (Firewalls, routers, switches) is desirable
Participate in the implementation discussion of new technologies and platforms
Ability to manage stakeholder’s expectation on multiple high priority competing tasks
Assist with planning and implementing systems and network integrations
Document the design, and troubleshooting of technology platforms and procedures


Master’s degree with 6+ years’ experience or Bachelor’s degree with 8+ years’ experience
Secret or higher clearance is required but will consider if candidate is deemed clearable infrastructure Technical Consulting background is a strong plus
Strong experience in IT Infrastructure/networking and/or Software Engineering with Agile, Agile/SAFe certifications is a plus
Experience drafting concept definition papers, analysis of alternatives, and business cases as necessary is preferred
Excellent communication, documentation and task management skills
