Senior Application Developer, GL27, IST004
As a Senior Application Developer, you will be part of our development team, predominantly involved in building business solutions by modifying existing software applications. You''ll stretch your skills and grow your career as a primary contributor in designing, coding, testing, debugging, documenting and supporting our United Claim Processing System application as you support our business requirements and produce high quality deliverables that allow us to deliver sound business value.
Primary Responsibilities:
? Take accountability and work independently in a fast paced, high pressure environment
? Understand customer needs and develop innovative solutions to meet them
? Deploy and maintain Applications / Systems
? Ability to solve complex production issues
? Ability to create innovative straight forward solutions to solve unique and complex business requirements
? Assess impact of requested changes on existing processes and define an overall recommendation to support existing and new business requirements
? Provide technical recommendation for approach in accordance with system vision
? Develop technical specifications/design documents
? Ensures compliance with application code standards (e.g., COBOL, DB2)
? Support to Quality Assurance on parallel testing and approach for system migration from mainframe to java based claims application
Required Qualifications:
? 5+ years of working hands-on with all aspects of the System Development Life Cycle
? 5+ years of mainframe programming experience
? 5+ years of experience with COBOL, MVS, JCL, TSO, DB2 and VSAM
? Experience with general IBM Utilities
? Possess strong technical writing skills
? Knowledge of claims system processing
? Java scripting ( intermediate is okay) preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:
? Experience working in a virtual team environment
? Full understanding of IT project management and proven ability to support
