Job Description:

We need strong accessibility developer to drive accessibility commitments and improvements, raising engineering awareness, and evangelizing the importance of accessibility across customer sites and services. This role requires working across multiple engineering teams at varying leadership levels, so strong communication, planning and influence skills are key to success.

Primary Responsibilities:
Plan and drive accessibility commitments by identifying accessibility issues and changes needed to meet corporate commitments.
Develop the tools for the accessibility
Report on accessibility compliance across teams and appropriately escalate roadblocks or issues that will impact the ability to meet full compliance.
Raise awareness and knowledge regarding accessibility priorities and requirements across the engineering teams.
Providing regular metrics/status as requested and participating in regular initiative meetings as appropriate.
Act as an accessibility and usability subject matter authority for web and app experiences, staying ahead of industry trends and best practices. Ability to use your expertise to guide others’ work, establish and share standards and policies. Work closely with other accessibility, design and usability specialists within Microsoft

General Knowledge, Skill and Experience Requirements:
Passion for technology, Accessibility and overall quality of Microsoft’s services
Empathy for customers with disabilities and how important a role Accessibility plays.
Must have 2-5 years of experience directly in the Web Accessibility space.
Demonstrated experience working and partnering directly with communities of consumers with disabilities.
Capability to develop and execute against a long-term vision of success, while ensuring successful completion of short-term objectives.
Ability to represent Microsoft and the complexities of Accessibility to technical and non-technical audiences – including executive, IC and team audiences from varying skillsets.
Experience with web publishing process—from content strategy thru to localization and publishing.
Experience with ARIA, accessible HTML/JS, mobile accessibility.
Must have experience with Accessibility standards and guidelines such as WCAG 2.0 Level AA, BBC mobile standard, UAG and ATAG guidelines
Must have familiarity with tools for accessibility evaluations and improvements;
Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills.
