Title: Linux VMware Admin with Dev-Ops
Location: Chicago, IL
Duration : 12+ months
Interview mode: Phone/Skype
Requred:
3+ years of Linux/UNIX and Open Systems administration.
Excellent skills with scripting languages, i.e. Perl and k-shell, bash. (you must have used scripting to automate processes)
2+ years of DevOPS automation tools such as SALT Stack (preferable), Ansible, Puppet, or Chef.
Strong VMware skills (you must have recent hands-on experience actually administered VMware), ops-manager, VSAN, and SRM (preferable
Strong Linux administration skills.
Ability to troubleshoot and trace problems across multiple platforms and technologies
Must have hands on shell programming (if you have been doing system administration for at least three years, they should have enough shell experience
Bonus Qualifications: Nice to have but not required
Experience with cloud infrastructure such as AWS/Azure/Google Apps.
Experience with WebLogic and Sun Solaris is
Experience with SAN, iSCSI technology.
Responsibilities of this opportunity:
Server administration, system maintenance, and optimizing systems performance.
Migration of applications from Sun Solaris to Linux VM’s.
Automation of server and application deployment using DevOPS processes and tools.
Evaluating system specifications, input/output processes, and working parameters for hardware/software compatibility.
Collaborating with our software development teams.
Implementation planning and enterprise-wide backups.
Working with our Security team to ensure Linux, and Open Systems are secure.
Assisting the Network Engineering team with troubleshooting and testing.
Java application support and tuning.
Performance tuning servers and applications
