Job Title: Staff Engineer Kubernetes / Compute Orchestration
Location: San Jose, CA
Overview
As part of the Enterprise Architecture team, we are looking for experienced software engineers to join the team building our next generation global compute infrastructure. You will design and build large distributed systems that operate at cloud-scale. Your work will be tightly integrated with all other teams at NIO and offers unique opportunity to make significant impact to the infrastructure components that enable development and deployment of NIO cars.
Responsibilities
Design and implement systems to provide compute orchestration and management for hybrid distributed systems with an emphasis on reliability, scalability, and performance.
Develop infrastructure that provides global self-service operation of compute processing and service jobs for internal and vehicle-facing workloads.
Develop software to manage and extend Kubernetes as an integrated container execution environment.
Provide expert guidance about orchestration and system monitoring tools.
Monitor and support the Containers as a Service (CaaS) infrastructure to rectify failures and performance bottlenecks.
Qualifications
Experienced software engineer with a passion for large-scale compute infrastructure.
Hands-on experience with virtualization and container technologies like: Docker, Kubernetes, OpenStack, VMware vSphere.
Demonstrated development experience with languages including: python, bash, golang, c.
Systems-level experience with Linux Operating System.
Experience building large-scale infrastructure systems.
Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative, data-driven, start-up environment.
Bachelor’s degree required.
5+ Years of Experience
Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience in the automotive industry is preferred, but not required.
Graduate degree preferred
