Location: Irving, TX
Our client is seeking a strong Network Engineer that has strong firewall experience for a contract (possibly contract to hire) position.
This position will be responsible for the operation of the corporate and store network infrastructure. In addition, this person will monitor the WAN circuits to ensure the store network remains operational. This position reports to the Director of Networks.
Duties and Responsibilities
Setting up stores on wireless data access.
Converting stores form wireless to wired WAN access.
Advanced troubleshooting of store WAN issues.
Setting up stores on frame and DSL on the host systems.
Assisting infrastructure team with routine tasks.
Coordinates installation, software distributions and upgrades to WAN routers.
Monitors and changes administrative passwords to all of the communications equipment at the stores.
Monitors WAN availability and uptime.
Convert store WAN access from Frame Relay to VPN over DSL.
Convert POTS lines to VoIP phone
Review all WAN related billing
Provide network and security support for the corporate and store network infrastructure
Requirements
College coursework or equivalent experience desired.
A strong understanding of computer systems and network communications systems
in a large environment
Working knowledge of EIGRP and BGP protocols
2 Years hands on experience with Unified communications implementations
Experience with Cisco communications equipment and VPN encryption is strongly recommended.
Working knowledge of Dynamic Multi-Point VPN implementations
Strong math and verbal skills.

Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this position, the incumbent is occasionally required to stand, walk, use the hands and fingers, handle or feel objects, reach with arms and hands, climb; and may occasionally lift and/or move up to 25
pounds. Must have appropriate vision to see up close, and at a distance with ability to adjust vision and focus. Overtime is required. Must be able and willing to carry a pager on evenings and weekends for off-hours support.
