Position Summary
Has the responsibility to direct the design, implementation and ongoing support of Datacom databases in production and non-production environments. Will collaborate with cross-functional teams to secure, tune and upgrade existing Datacom databases. Will also work in partnership with application owners and developers to optimize the existing environment and maintain exceptional service levels.
Key Duties / Responsibilities
Performs day-to-day database administration with an emphasis on producing and evaluating performance monitoring reports to maintain peak performance.
Makes recommendations to ensure that adequate computing and storage capacity is available.
Responsible for capacity and performance usage trending.
Develop, test, promote and maintain database objects.
Database migration between DEV, QA and PROD
Develop, test and maintain database connectivity with user community including developers
Performs logical and physical database designs.
Develop, document and maintain security procedures to ensure integrity, security, and privacy of the all database systems in accordance with regulatory and contractual agreements.
Develop, automate, document and maintain procedures for backup/recovery and real-time alerting.
Plan and coordinates data services change and testing activities employed with large application development releases.
Plans and performs configurations, maintenance, upgrades and installation of Datacom components.
Perform ISV Product upgrades and apply maintenance patches as required.
Collaborate with and guide other DBAs and application developers.
Education & Knowledge Required
A bachelor degree in Computer Sciences or related field may be required.
Experience / Skills / Abilities Required
Minimum 8-10 years of experience as a Datacom Database Administrator with Bachelor’s degree or 11+ years’ work experience without Bachelor’s degree.
Proficient with Datacom v14 and up
Advanced knowledge and proficiency with Datacom database and buffer tuning.
Proficient in Datacom patching, maintenance, upgrading, migration and disaster planning & recovery
Solid knowledge of Datacom CICS Services, IDEAL, Inter Product Communication, Datacom Data Dictionary, Datacom DataQuery, and DB2 z/OS
Advanced knowledge of database structure and database engine internals.
Proficient in Datacom security setup, troubleshooting, copy downs, creating DBID’s, and URT.
Knowledge of JCL, z/OS, SMPE, Zeke, Zebb, Zara or equivalent.
Working knowledge of database administration tools like BMC’s Main view, and Datacom toolsets.
Serves as RDBMS process leader and subject matter expert.
Experience with other RDBMS systems a plus. Such as DB2 UDB, Oracle & MSSQL
Solid and verifiable background in Disaster Recovery scenarios and techniques a must.
Supervisory Responsibility
This role is non-managerial; however, candidates with a team leadership and process leadership background will be favored.

Communicate with other IT and business resources during business and non-business hours
Has established relationships with vendors, industry peers and professional associations to assist with remaining up-to-date on existing and evolving standards and technology.
