Position Title: Batch operator
Location: Jackson, MS
Description:
Provide 2nd level support to the Service Desk as necessary (1st level after business hours Certifications in Network, Server or Desktop are helpful
The Computer Operator will manage all activities and measures to enable and/or maintain the intended use of the Production Environment services and infrastructure in order to meet Service Level Agreements and Business Targets. Act as front line agent for managing the live Production Environment to detect, prevent, minimize/reduce impacts and disruptions to the Production Environment and to the Business Units. And achieve and deliver business targets stated in the SLAs (Service Level Agreements) to increase quality of service and user satisfaction
Computer Operations:
Facilitates production and test batch processing through console management of late jobs, abends and holds.
Works directly with programmers for resolution on job interruptions.
Recognizes and reacts to system performance issues that impact on-line users, applications or batch processing.
React to console messages regarding archive data which includes knowledge of tape management and loading.
Processes programmer requests via phone, email and online change request
Participates in shift-change communication update to ensure continuity of position responsibilities.
Other projects and duties as assigned.
Monitor the MVS Mainframe(s) and all attached peripheral devices (eg: CPUs, SILOs, DASD, Tapes, Printers, etc
Monitor the UNIX environment(s)
Monitor all Production Services. These include the Online Applications and the Batch Jobs execution.
Manage the ESP, UC4 and Zeke batch schedules and service deliverables
Manage the batch throughput in the different operating environments to meet service level expectations
Provide 1st level support for all system, network, online and batch related incidents
Provide 2nd level support to the Service Desk as necessary (1st level after business hours)
Open Incident Tickets for all identifies service disruptions
Escalate to 2nd and 3rd level support all incidents that cannot be resolved within Operations
Escalate to Vendor support organizations all Hardware incidents and manage the timely resolution of same
Satisfy Tape mount requests outside of the automation
Provide support for tape library functions
Participate, as needed, in the Disaster Recovery exercises
Maintain up-to-date and effective internal processes (including Automation processes) and documentation for all key functions within the Team
Performance Monitoring/Tape/Print:
Actively monitors communication circuits and devices for outages, interruptions, errors and patterns of each.
Actively monitors selected servers and other system devices associated with store and corporate systems, applications and databases.
Documents monitoring tools and problem management system with current and accurate statuses.
Assist in keeping Monitoring tools maintained with current system organization, details and escalation.
