Systems Engineer position with Enterprise Windows, Active Directory, SCCM, VMware and Office 365 experience.
Systems Engineer
Responsible for the design, development and deployment of End User Windows systems components, Projects are typically focused on both software and hardware components. Evaluates existing systems to understand capabilities and recommend solutions. Work with non-technical business owners to understand needs and develop a technical solution. Participates in the layout design and installation of new systems or modification of existing systems. Develop and manage systems integration projects. Identifies and resolves existing system deficiencies. Must have strong communication skills to interact with business counterparts. 7-10 years of prior systems engineering experience in large enterprise environments is required.
The Systems Engineer is responsible for providing support for the development and execution of IT engineering strategies and solutions spanning all of ITS and impacting all business groups. The Engineer collaborates with colleagues in IT Operations and other key stakeholders to meet goals and achieve IT Operations strategic objectives, and liaises with new technology vendors and suppliers and internal and external business partners.
The Engineer is expected to demonstrate expert level depth of technical expertise in IT engineering. This includes providing level 3 troubleshooting responsibility for Enterprise Managed Windows Operating Systems and company approved desktop and client server applications.
Nature of Contact:
The person plays a coordinative role within the organization. This position collaborates with the IT Operations team to facilitate alignment of engineering with the overall ITS strategy. The Engineer partners with development teams to address engineering issues, working across organizational boundaries to deliver systems and services to customer business units. This role requires the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple and sometimes conflicting project activities and deliverables, as well as the ability to effectively manage expectations.
Functional / Technical Responsibilities
Perform engineering services in order to enable stable and efficient operation of the in-house and cloud based information systems that support core organizational functions.
Administer IT engineering processes in order to ensure adherence to appropriate quality standards and SLA’s.
Provide Level 3 problem resolution and manage escalation for complex IT incidents.
Work with Hardware and Software Vendor Technical Support Representatives.
Vet new Desktop Software Application requests submitted by users.
Perform monthly updates to the VMWare Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) non-persistent Master Image
Perform technical reviews and evaluation of new technology projects and solutions.
Create and maintain documentation as it relates to system configuration, mapping, processes and service records.
Assist in assessment of new technology and business trends in order to help deliver cost-effective solutions and services in support of strategic and operational business plans.
Maintain a comprehensive knowledge of current trends and developments and provide recommendations to IT Operations management on IT technology and issues to build better ITS solutions that support and drive business decisions.
Relationship Management
Work in partnership with IT Operations and management on strategic initiatives related to IT engineering in order to continuously improve policies, standards and procedures by anticipating issues, providing advice and sharing knowledge and best practices.
Develop positive working relationships with ITS team members and business partners in order to align with company internal and external client demands.
Required
Bachelor''s degree or equivalent in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering or related field OR Minimum of 10 years related experience.
Experience in IT engineering and strong knowledge of hardware and software technology.
Expert level understanding of Enterprise Windows Device deployment to include Imaging, Active Directory Domain membership and authentication, application of Group Policy Objects, DNS, Whole Disk Encryption, Certificate Management, and software distribution via SCCM
Working knowledge of VMWare Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) Operation and Support
Working Knowledge of Office 365 Integration and Administration
Preferred :Master''s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering or related field.
