NYS Workers’ Compensation Board’s
The NYS Workers’ Compensation Board’s Business Process Reengineering (BPR) project has identified the need to quantify and monitor system performance. New BI components will be required to enable this analysis. This includes expanding the data and subject areas available in the WCB’s data warehouse, summarizing data into logical data marts for improved access and performance, integrating processes and technologies to improve data quality, building new and expanded analytical cubes, creating new dashboards and reports, that will enable expanded information self-service for the WCB.
Two goals of delivering self-service BI and analytics by expanding available data in the WCB’s enterprise data warehouse are (1) to provide management with a single source of all summarized data and (2) to provide the tools that allow self-service access to that data. To meet these goals, future iterations or phases of business intelligence and data warehouse development are required to include:
Expansion of available source systems to be included in EDW
Additional subject areas leveraging “atomic level” data
Data marts to summarize “atomic level” data
New and expanded BI analytical schemas (aka “cubes”)
New executive dashboards
New analytical reports
Establishment of Data Quality Management processes
Integration of Data Quality Management tools to Data Warehouse architecture
Responsibilities:
Communication of project status and updates at all levels of organization, with internal stakeholders, project team and executive staff
Development and maintenance of detailed project plan with milestones and deliverables. Identification of critical path and contingencies
Risk monitoring, control and mitigation planning
Resource allocation estimating and reporting
Support and guidance for recommended business process changes
Management of project teams during review of process changes
Planning and support during transition, including documentation of next steps
Required skills:
84 months experience in development and maintenance of a project plan for an effort with milestones, deliverables, resource allocations and risk mitigation
36 months experience as Project Manager of a Data Warehouse/Business Intelligence project
60 months experience as Project Manager for large scale information technology software development effort
24 months with PMP (Project Management Professional) certification
24 months of experience with NYS Project Management methodology and NYS Guidebook
24 months of experience as Certified Scrum Master
