The Information Technology Division (ITD) meets VDOT''s critical business needs by improving agency responsiveness, effectiveness and efficiency, through innovative research, defined architectures, planning, and optimal use of technology.
The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) Information Technology Division is seeking an experienced technical tester to join the QA Program and specifically support a large project delivery. Under the project manager, the test lead is responsible for the risk based test plan, management of the execution of test scripts and metrics reporting on the assigned projects. The work includes UI testing, integrations, and backend processes. The right person will need solid technical skills, people skills and an assertive disposition.
The selected candidate will:
Serve as a hands-on technical test analyst with development staff and business groups;
Provide high level of functionality, usability and test ability expertise during requirements phase;
Trace requirements through Test Scripts and results;
Coordinate and communicate with project managers and staff to coordinate testing work tasks and resourcing;
Communicate timelines and expectations to project manager, technical, and business staff;
Collaborate with vendors, consultants, and contractors in the testing of projects;
Define test objectives, design test plans and test cases for assigned projects;
Define and measure testing progress with metrics;
Conduct Triage Meetings across various parties from ITD staff to vendors and business partners. Report progress to Project Manager;
Provide regression test suites for on-going quality assurance;
Continuously improve speed, quality and ease of testing;
Provide an audit able record of test activities;
Support system and application troubleshooting;
Qualifications:
The candidate must have a minimum of 4 years experience as enterprise application tester and a bachelor''s degree.
Ability to prioritise test cases based on risk analysis and adequate coverage
Strong Communication, Presentation & Analytical skills
In-depth experience and demonstrated proficiency with QA methodology, process and deliverables as a tester.
Experience testing complex multi-tiered web based systems and complex data-driven applications
Ability to work hands-on and also provide leadership in the implementation of complex testing solutions. Display a high-level of initiative and troubleshooting skills
Working in Agile environment and work closely with developers, QA engineers, business stakeholders in a fast paced sprints.
Ability to effectively communicate with business clients; ability to effectively work with any coworker within the team or division; ability to transfer knowledge and translate technical concepts to non-technical resources and coworkers; excellent verbal and written communication skills
Able to work independently to juggle multiple simultaneous priorities with minimal supervision and keep project manager informed of progress toward goals
Must have the flexibility to work a regular schedule with additional off hours at critical roll out periods required
Data Migration testing experience
Proficiency with SQL database technologies and technique
Perform testing of web services, web UI, mobile apps, GIS
Systems integration and back-end (data base) testing experience
Train and assist the business users with UAT testing
Knowledge of and experience of testing applications utilising the following technologies is preferred:
Bachelor’s degree preferred but will consider 8+ years of experience
.NET Framework, Web Based Applications, and object-oriented architectures
Oracle, SQL
ESRI ArcGIS Desktop & Web-based Applications (ArcMap, ArcGIS Server ArcGIS Online)
Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, Visio, PowerPoint)
Team Foundation Server
