Job Description:
My Minneapolis area client is looking for a contract Cisco Network Engineer. As a Network Engineer you will work on the remote deployment and configuration of Cisco routers and switches. In addition, the configuration and administration of MPLS and DMVPN connectivity, updating/configuring network services and related infrastructure such as DNS, DHCP, etc., and to provide operational user support. Due to the fast pace and changing priorities of the environment you must have great interpersonal and communication skills (phone as well) written and handle lots of details. The ability to work with a team and want to be part of a team is important. This is an initial 3 month project that will very likely be extended. If you are open to possible hire even better.
What are the Main Areas You Will Focus On
Configure Cisco routers and switches
Work with off-site colleagues and 3rd party deployment partner to organize installation date/time of hardware deployments
Work with off-site colleagues, ISP and MPLS vendors to coordinate and facilitate upgrades to WAN connectivity
Update network documentation as deployments/upgrades occur
Work with off-site colleagues and 3rd party partners to coordinate and facilitate site preparations (cabling, electrical, rack installation, etc
What Background is Needed?
At least 3 years’ experience in networking in a large enterprise environment
Experience designing, managing, and supporting
enterprise network environments
MPLS and DMVPN connectivity
Knowledge of industry protocols
TCP/IP, MPLS, BGP, OSPF, ISIS, IPSec and VLANs and Spanning tree
ISP provisioning
Ability to take customer requirements and design/architect solution models to support them
Ability to troubleshoot problems at the Data Link, Network, and Transport layers of the OSI model
Ability to work non-traditional work hours
What Would be Nice to Have?
Cisco certifications, CCNA preferred
Working on large managed projects and programs
