TITLE: Sr. Teradata Developer
LOCATION: Achorage, AK
Contract: 6 Months

Requisition Details:
Responsible for developing and implementing the data models for assigned reports, dashboards and business intelligence applications including, but not limited to, gathering necessary data requirements, understanding presentation layer needs and developing the semantic layer, analytic views, virtualization layers, logical data models, working with the application DBA’s to implement better physical data models and working with developers on solving challenging and difficult data and data performance issues.
Demonstrates creative thinking to resolve problems.
Provides hands-on technical knowledge & leadership working with database developers, DBAs, architects, data quality analysts, and other teams as well as manages relationships within context of the individual role.
Typically requires 5 years of experience. Senior level.
Understands advanced aspects of discipline and is viewed as an expert in a given field.
Applies broad range of competencies to develop solutions to complex problems. Influences others to achieve objectives.
Often provides specialized/technical/functional guidance to others within department and/or business asset.
This position will help Alaska with their Data Analytics and Management strategy by working to optimized their Teradata data warehouse, help model new data sets into Teradata, manage Teradata security for the business unit, and lead Teradata architecture initiatives.

Provide day-to-day application database administration support to multiple Integrated Operation programs
Create, Coordinate and Execute change request, build scripts based on Feedback from Data and Integration Analysts
Perform Dev, Test and Prod migrations according to COP standards
Follow Integrated Data Warehouse (IDW) governance when creating database, schema, tables and views
Adhere to Data Warehouse architecture, standards and processes as defined by the Data Architecture team
Review and optimize performance of the tables, views, stored procedures, indexing, stats, etc.
Provide capacity and performance trend analysis and proactively take steps to address concerns with design and solution recommendations
Perform performance tuning on complex queries with efficiency of PI/SI indexes, Join Index, PPI, Using Explain plan for analysis using Teradata Explain, Visual Explain, data distribution among AMPs and index usage, collect statistics, revision of correlated sub queries, etc.
Analyze DBQL entries specific daily to identify long-running queries, high CPU and I/O usage, spool usage, noting accounts, assessing SQL for troubleshooting and provide recommendations
Proactively review user access, permissions, table and view usage, object & security roles across environments; coordinate closely with the BU IO teams to clean up discrepancies and underutilized items
Instill best practices for code development and documentation
Perform peer review on vendor’s design and drive design changes to meet COP
