Windows 10 desktop engineer needed for a project near Buffalo, NY. Travel expenses covered, when travel is required We need a strong Windows 10 image creator and packager, SCCM, WSUS type. Client will provide oversight and management but this person needs to be a fairly high level consultant capable of coming in, working independently, and providing some level of consultative approach to client to help determine any process or technical gaps, etc.


4.1 Windows 10 Deployment Engineering Service
4.1.1 Introduction
Dell will leverage its proven, robust and quality controlled Windows 10 design, build and deployment methodologies and processes during the delivery of this engagement. The goal will be to engineer a Windows 10 deployment solution that meets Customer''s technical requirements.
In this engagement Dell will provide technical consultants to:
Conduct onsite technical discovery interviews
Develop and document Customer''s Windows 10 deployment requirements
Validate one (1) Windows 10 (OS) image
Configure the Microsoft Deployment Toolkit (MDT) or System Center Configuration Manager
(SCCM) task sequencer to support Windows 10 including image load, application installation, and data migration options for the in-scope deployment scenarios
Prepare ConfigMgr for Windows as a Service by defining and implementing up to one (1) servicing plan
Stage Application Factory Services in order to gather, rationalize, package and test application on as needs basis
Provide knowledge transfer throughout the engagement
Conduct a project closeout meeting on the final day of the engagement
4.1.2 Detailed Description
4.1.2.1 Workshop, Assessment and Design
The Windows 10 deployment solution engineering engagement will enable Customer to take advantage of Dell''s experience and structured methodology to deploy Windows 10 to end users. Dell will conduct onsite technical discovery via interviews with Customer subject matter experts to discuss options and make design decisions around the deployment of Windows 10.
Using the outputs from the technical discovery, Dell will customize a Windows 10 deployment technical design document for the Customer to review. The Windows 10 deployment design document will document the customer''s technical requirements for building a Windows 10 deployment solution in the following areas:
Operating System Image build requirements
Hardware Platform support requirements
Security Configuration requirements
Regionalization requirements
Encryption requirements Dell - Internal Use - Confidential

Application deployment requirements
Active directory requirements
User profile and data migration requirements
Image engineering, deployment and management requirements
The technical interview results will be reviewed and discussed with the Customer team and desired amendments made to produce the final version of the design document. Should SCCM issues be discovered that are key requirements for Windows 10 and would prevent successful performance of the remaining activities Dell will document these issues and notify the Customer team for resolution.
4.1.2.2 Implement and Test Deployment Process
In this phase, Dell will validate up to one (1) Windows 10 OS images based on the Windows 10 design document prepared by Dell in partnership with Customer during the previous Design phase.
Dell will perform the following activities:
Validate one (1) thin Windows 10 Enterprise Edition OS image according to the requirements agreed during the Design phase
Customize configuration and look/feel of deployment process according to agreed design including:
o Join PC to a custom or specific Organizational Unit within Active Directory
o Configure PC hostname
o Configure one (1) deployment task sequence using MDT or SCCM task sequence template
o Enable and activate Bitlocker encryption using MBAM policies
o Configure deployment to leverage up to seven (7) MUI language packs for regionalization requirements
o Incorporate OS and Office MUI packs
o Work with customer to Import up to One hundred and fifteen (115) .MSI packaged applications as agreed during the Design phase using application profiling.
o Migrate user data and settings using the Microsoft User State Migration Tool (USMT)
Up to one (1) data migration profile for USMT will be defined
Windows 10 task sequencing configured for use by MDT for Lite-Touch OS deployment:
o Bare Metal Scenario - For new devices with no data migration requirement
o In-Place Upgrade Scenario – For existing Windows 7 or Windows 8.1 devices with user data and settings

Knowledge transfer to Customer team
4.1.2.3 Windows 10 Deployment
Dell, with assistance of Customer IT staff, will conduct a Windows 10 deployment (or migration) using the Dell Optimized Deployment process. The purpose of the deployment is to select up to 10 systems that form a relative sample of the deployment (or migration) environment, then conduct a test deployment using the Windows 10 OS image and deployment process as designed and built during the Services described in this SOW. Dell will perform these pilot deployment on up to 5 different hardware models.
The Dell consultant will support the Windows 10 deployment process on all defined deployment scenarios within the scope of the design document.
4.1.3 Windows as a Service Proof of Concept
4.1.3.1 Introduction
The Windows as a Service (WaaS) Deployment service is designed for Dell to analyze the customer current state of Windows 10 Update and Servicing toolsets, herein recognized as ConfigMgr. Dell will ascertain Windows 10 readiness both for Windows 10 Deployment as well as Windows as a Service Deployment and Maintenance. The Dell consultant will analyze the current ConfigMgr environment within the agreed scope, recommend configurations and options for Windows 10 Updates, Upgrades and Servicing. Dell will advise the customer regarding best practice and customer tailored.
4.1.3.2 Detail Gathering and Validation for ConfigMgr
Specific details and analysis on the following
ConfigMgr Site version (See Assumptions)
Software Update Configuration
ConfigMgr Windows 10 Servicing Requirements
Based on the results of the Customer''s analysis, Dell will work with Customer to identify key recommendations for Windows as a Service implementation and maintenence. Dell, using a workshop approach will guide the customer in the adoption and deployment of up to three (3) Servicing plans for Windows 10. These servicing plans will target up to three collections in order to differentiate the options within the servicing plans based on the customer requirements.
The Dell consultant will recommend configuration changes deemed desirable from the analysis findings. These changes will be considered low-risk and achievable within the available time remaining onsite.
Other findings deemed high-risk, or that require additional discovery, consulting time and/or resources to deliver may require additional services fees which may be addressed in another SOW or using the Change Management Process described in section 6.
4.1.4 Windows as a Service - Servicing Plan Workflow Dell - Internal Use - Confidential

Dell will guide the customer on Windows as a Service plan workflow specifically on these areas related to the effective management of WaaS using ConfigMgr. Dell and customer will:
Establish and validate Upgrades classifications for Windows 10 platform
Establish and validate Servicing Dashboard with ConfigMgr and display Windows 10 readiness state
Ensure customer plans for Windows 10 Current Branch and or Current Branch for Business utilizing Group Policy for deferment options.
Develop Servicing Plans to manage the target collections, packages, deployment and user experience for each plan.
o Up to one (1) servicing plan with a unique target collection
o Use release or business ready plan (CB or CBB), deferment days, evaluation time, upgrade availability time, installation deadline
o Define user experience options and device restart schedule and rules.
o Standardize on package naming, source, download settings
o Establish or supress the BranchCache capabilities for W10 Upgrades
o Configure fall back to Microsoft Update web service in case content is missing from distribution points
o Configure alert guidelines
Validate Windows 10 Servicing plan to ensure intended design and function
Document the Windows as a Service configuration and maintenance
4.1.7 Technical Review and Project Closeout
Dell will perform the following tasks as part of technical review and transfer activities to Customer:
Discuss outstanding issues discovered during the deployment (or migration) of the pilot in relation to the Windows 10 Gold image configuration and deployment task sequence
Finalize as-built documentation
Project closeout meeting
