Systems Administrator

Provide day-to-day Systems Administration for Oracle Solaris (T4, T5,
based computing environments and related SAN, Network infrastructure.
.The candidate will, based on a comprehensive understanding of the system
and its operation, identify ways to tune/increase system performance and
responsiveness. The candidate will formulate and document an approach to
problem resolution based on experience and knowledge, and coordinate actions
with appropriate team members. Upon approval to implement changes to the
system, the candidate will implement and test the approved solution(s
Candidate will conduct appropriate research and apply their knowledge of
client-server/networking systems to organize, formulate and document
solutions.

Utilizing diagnostic software, the candidate will evaluate/analyze gathered
metrics to determine where server/system/network performance is degraded and
apply their knowledge of client-server, networking and storage technology to
formulate recommended solutions to implement in order to improve/resolve
poor system performance. No system changes are made without approval from
Security Engineering.

Based on investigation and expert judgment, the candidate will formulate an
approach to solving a system-level problem, documenting their
recommendations in a project plan which details the identified problem,
approach to resolution, steps to test to ensure problems have been
corrected, and a proposed timeline/schedule to implement the solution. Upon
approval, the candidate will be responsible for executing the approved
project plan.

Client-side System Administration would include a VMWare hosted Windows
2008R2 Server based domain utilizing Active Directory.
This position requires on-call periodic after hours support on a rotational
schedule.

Qualifications:

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Position requires US citizen and ability to obtain NAC clearance.
Security+ certification is preferred.

Effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and
maintenance of systems hardware and software and related infrastructure
Performing daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and
availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes,
reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled
jobs such as backups

Installation, configuration and support of software systems commensurate
with position description.

Installation, configuration and support of hardware systems commensurate
with position description.

Client-Server networking systems: DNS, DHCP, LDAP, TCP/IP
Must be able to demonstrate a working knowledge of F5 with an
understanding of UTP cable installation and termination, multimode fiber
installation, network management "best practices" and a demonstrated
knowledge of network hardware configuration (switches and routers

The selected candidate must have a working knowledge of Information
Assurance and Certification & Accreditation requirements outlined in DCID
6/3 and/or ICD 503 as well as facility security requirements outlined in
DCID 6/9.

Strong verbal and written communications skills are required as well as
the ability to maintain professionalism in a diverse customer environment.

1. Bachelor (4-year) degree, with a technical major, such as engineering or
computer science.

2. Systems Administration/System Engineer certification in UNIX and
Microsoft.

3. Four to six year''s system administration experience.
