JOB SUMMARY:
The role of Field Service Technician is focused on providing world class support to our growing customer base through the application of domain knowledge. A strong background in remote telephone/web access troubleshooting of computer and electronic systems, with the ability to understand and interpret general system-level schematics is essential.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Duties include, but are not limited to:
Act as a primary contact providing technical assistance, via telephone or “on-site” service calls, for Client''s track testing equipment (troubleshooting, training, field repair, startup assistance, and equipment commissioning)
Work as a liaison and cross functional coordinator internally and with external customers
Assist in electrical and software installation of specialized railway measurement equipment
Follow-up coordination, documentation, and remediation resulting from service calls, field inspections, and equipment failure
Create and maintain documentation as it relates to system configuration, work procedures, and service records
Participate and support with the development of technical training, maintenance, operational programs, and technical manuals
Conduct preventative maintenance inspections on internal or external customer systems
Assist with emergency field trips related to electrical or software failure or updates
Test new and existing equipment, hardware, and software
Monitor system performance and troubleshoot reoccurring problems
QUALIFICATIONS:
Technical associate''s degree or certification in electronics or computing fields required
Hands-on experience solving technical problems related to hardware or software
Experience navigating and configuring computer operating systems (Linux and Windows experience essential)
Basic scripting knowledge preferred
Experience using remote assistance techniques (VNC, RDP, SSH, etc
Working knowledge of diagnostic instruments and measurement tools (DMMs, Oscilloscopes, Bus Analyzers, etc
Ability to read Electrical/PCB layout schematics
Ability to conduct research into electrical or computer related issues
PHYSICAL/ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to lift up to 50lbs without reasonable accommodation
Ability to travel up to 50% of the time within North America without restrictions (Ground, Rail, Air)
Ability to walk on rough uneven surfaces within railroad environment, climb vehicle ladders, walk on inclines, and work on units in the field or shop
Ability to handle typical weather extremes
