Field Service Manager

Job Summary
The role of Field Service Manager requires an in-depth understanding of the manufacture, operation and application of the Client’s next generation track analysis systems. This position is the primary technical resource for the field technician staff, and is responsible for actively driving the technology support process. Working in conjunction with the engineering team as the technical support link to the customer, the Manager must be able to identify and provide reliable solutions for technical issues to assure complete customer satisfaction through all stages of the products lifecycle.

Responsibilities
Work in close liaison with mechanical, electrical, computer and software solution engineers to resolve customer issues or difficulties in a manner that is consistent with the company mission, values, and financial objectives.
Maintain expert level of product knowledge and application.
Effectively manage and utilize existing field support resources.
Listen, understand and convey customer issues internally.
Create and perform technical/product training for engineers, technicians and operators
Travel to sites to preform diagnostics, start-up, integration, and training services
Maintain accurate records of customers, systems, opportunities, projects, contacts and correspondence in company approved databases (E-Maint)
Assist in the design and development of new products and tools necessary to facilitate 1st class support
Maintain professional business relationships with customers.
Manage KPIs on support related items
Identify customer''s needs to help future growth

Qualifications
BS in Engineering or related Technical Field, or equivalent experience in a similar role.
3+ years experience in an Engineering Role with 5+ years in a leadership role
Ability to read/explain mechanical/electrical blueprints and have a solid understanding of electrical/mechanical control systems.
In the field experience solving technical problems relating to hardware or software issues
Familiarity with creating/maintaining technical manuals and training materials.
Exposure to multiple OS’s (WINDOWS, Linux etc, their configuration and scripting.
A solid understanding of network communications technology; Internet, TCP/IP, Ethernet, etc.
Working knowledge of diagnostic instruments, measurement tools (DMMs, Oscilloscopes, Bus Analyzers etc and related diagnostic processes.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs with our without reasonable accommodation.
Ability to travel up to 50% of the time to customer offices, railroad track testing sites, and on testing vehicles.
Ability to walk on rough ground/railroad track, climb vehicle ladders, inclines, and work on vehicle systems in the field or shop
Ability to handle typical weather extremes when working in the field
Ability to maintain a valid passport and driver’s license
