Title: Manufacturing Engineer Plastic and Metals
Location: Cincinnati, OH
Duration: Full time


The Manufacturing Engineer should excel in an environment that embraces teamwork, change, risk-based decision-making and flexibility. This individual will work in a design team setting.
They will also:
Have basic understanding of metal, Plastic, and assembly manufacturing methods used for small component manufacturing- stamping, machining (conventional CNC , mill turn, Electro chemical, Metal injection molding, powder metal, welding, mechanical joining, fine blanking, additive manufacturing (3-D printing), plastic injection molding, welding, joining, electro-mechanical, and others
Ability to Lead & execute DOE’s for process characterizations/mfg development
Familiarity with qualification (PPAP or similar) documentation, entry into Company archive
Ability to provide input as to the best mfg processes which achieves highest quality at lowest cost components- Utilizing DFM/A and RFQ processes,
Ability to write request for quotes, analyze results and make informed recommendations on the best practice for manufacturing
Plan and author clear requirement setting expectations to selected Suppliers,
Process development activities, and monitoring of activities from execution through launch
Ability to interpret, challenge and direct effective GD&T discussion that enables robust manufacturing, and enable critical design requirements,
Interface with Suppliers directly to ensure design requirements and process capability is achieved,
Ability to document and maintain process development documentation as directed by EES current Quality Policies
Ability to develop and run mechanical reliability and strength testing under directed lab conditions
Organizes, authors protocols and conducts Engineering builds, Product Qualifications, and closure of all required documentation to execute selected CIPs
Ability to understand and manage medical device manufacturing requirements for product or process change management
Assist in the execution of change management plans for key Cost Saving initiatives
Lead the qualification of:
Assembly equipment/fixtures/processes
Gage equipment—conduct MSA’s
Product qualifications as needed
Support and develop generation of all documentation & specifications for process & equipment including drawings, process specifications, PS & OM sheets, routers, IPQA specifications & troubleshooting guide
Support and develop the use of statistical techniques, develop validation protocols, qualify first articles, complete process capability studies & process validation on both internal & supplier processes
Manage manufacturing documentation required for product manufacturing i.e. revises drawing, BOM, accurate work instructions and workmanship standards and process procedures.
Identify ways to reduce production costs through recommendations– i.e. new process equipment, equipment justification to improve performance.
Work with design engineering team on DFX (design for excellence) to Include:
Design for cost
Design for test
Design for manufacture ability
Design for assembly
Improve continually existing operation, for increased quality, productivity, efficiency and cost savings.
