Description:
Seeking an Accounting Manager who will play a key role in the Partnership Accounting area and actively manage the royalty area.
Candidate will have frequent interaction with cross functional teams including upper management and must demonstrate the ability to understand complex accounting issues related to acquisitions, partnerships and licensing transactions.
Responsible for managing monthly accounting close process. Tasks include reviewing journal entries, account analyses, and variance analyses.
Responsible for reviewing licensing agreements related to royalties. Interact with legal, FP&A teams and tax to interpret the agreement terms.
Manage the outsourced service providers to complete quarterly royalty payments and various reporting packages related to royalties.
Interact with a wide range of internal clients (FP&A, Alliance Management, Legal, Tax) and external licensors/licensees and provide accounting support.
Provide audit support to internal and external auditors and manage royalty audits and SOX audits.
Take initiatives and document royalty flows. Be able to identify control risks and process improvement opportunities.
Manage the accounting for goodwill and intangible assets resulting from past and future M&A activity. Tasks include supervising the preparation of journals to record monthly amortization expense, reviewing the monthly account analyses and variance analyses.
Responsible for impairment testing. Tasks include facilitating the impairment review meetings, preparing meeting minutes and drafting accounting memos.
Key accounting contact for several significant royalty arrangements with other large pharma companies. This person will participate heavily within both internal and external cross functional teams in order to analyze royalty arrangements and manage accounting for goodwill and intangible assets.
Will often establish and/or recommend changes to the process and will need to have a good understanding of controls.
Will also need to be detail oriented in reviewing agreements and be able to interact well with legal personnel to interpret clauses where disputes exist.
Additional responsibilities will include reviewing journal entries, managing outsourced provider team, reviewing royalty payment packages, account analyses and variance analyses.
Will also support internal/external audits. Will have good analytical skills and the initiative to seek solutions to issues.
In addition they will have strong oral and written communication skills to build and maintain positive working relationships with both internal and external parties.

Requirements:
Doctorate degree OR Master’s degree & 3 years of finance experience OR Bachelor’s degree & 5 years of finance experience OR Associate’s degree & 10 years of finance experience OR High school diploma / GED & 12 years of finance experience.
Accounting and/or finance experience; experience with SAP general ledger systems; degree in Finance or Accounting.
Detail oriented, ability to learn quickly and work independently. Good communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
5+ years of corporate or public accounting experience.
CPA and Big 4 audit firm experience.
Comprehensive accounting knowledge on Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and the standards that apply to Biopharmaceutical industry, including areas like R&D, Manufacturing, M&A, Licensing, etc.
Strong written, verbal communication, and presentation skills and be able to bridge culture differences.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving and organizational skills. Be able to work independently. Ability to multi-task and establish priorities.
Strong leadership skills, build teams, manage projects and identify operational risks.
Experience with SAP and BW, PARIS (Cognos PowerPlay), EDW applications.
