Role: Linux System Administrator(SA)

Job Description:

The Linux System Administrator (SA) is responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware, software and related data center infrastructure. The IT team is responsible for the Development & Production environments which house Linux and Windows servers. The environment consists of physical and virtual servers across two local data centers.
Installs new, or rebuilds existing servers, configuring hardware, operating systems, applications and storage in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements.
Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs and backups.
Apply OS patches per policy, perform OS upgrades on a regular basis, and upgrade administrative tools and utilities as necessary.
Perform ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required.
Improve and maintain system standards for installation, configuration, and maintenance procedures.
Research, identify and recommend technologies that leverage our resources and provide economies of scale, utilizing automated approaches for system administration tasks where possible.
Investigate and troubleshoot service issues.
Monitoring and maintenance of data center environments, including rotational on-call.
DB and hardware experience would be plus.

Required Skills:
Linux [ RHEL 6 / CentOS 6 ]
VMware vSphere 5.5 - 6, with vCenter
Linux shell scripting
Apache httpd
Apache Tomcat
Adapt and integrate open source software and technologies to the environment.
SAN Storage Technologies [eg: Equalogic, NetApp, Nimble ]
Multi-vendor server hardware support.
Ability to document technical systems clearly.
Agile methodologies [experience working in Kanban, DevOps]
Preferred Skills:
Windows Server 2008 - 2012 w/ Active Directory
Varnish Caching Server
oVirt and/or Citrix XenServer virtualization.
Veeam and/or Backup Exec.
Cisco UCS & Nexus platform switching
MacOS and Adobe Creative Cloud applications
AWS Hybrid Architectures
HAProxy
RDBMS [ MySQL, Postgres, MS SQL ]
Ability to read and understand PHP & Java in order to assist developers during the development process.

Qualifications and Experience:-
Minimum 5+ years’ experience in systems administration with physical, virtual and hybrid cloud environments, where adapting, installing, and configuring open source tools is common.
Minimum 5+ years’ experience coordinating with service and product vendors.
Excellent communication skills and ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of clients and staff.
Ability to quickly learn new technologies and keep abreast of the latest technological advances.
Experience in ITSM & ITIL methodologies.
