Summary:The Database Analyst is responsible for the planning, design, implementation, testing and documentation of software applications that support the Virology division of the Infectious Diseases Department. Other requirements include monitoring database for problems, software enhancements and data reporting to management and other required governmental authorities. The position calls for a willingness to learn and adapt new methods and technologies. Performs system support and other related duties as assigned or directed in order to meet the goals and objectives of the department. This person with be working with domestic and international partners who conduct surveillance and research on avian, human and swine influenza.

The successful applicant will be part of an NIH Center of Excellence for Influenza Research and Surveillance (CEIRS) that is also associated with the World Health Organization (WHO and will also work with members of other Centers of Excellence and WHO Collaborating Centers who study influenza as well as other emerging pathogensMinimum Education:Bachelor's degree required, preferably in a computer-related field.Minimum Experience:Two (2) years of experience in software, application, and database development required.

Basic knowledge in programming with MS-SQL language, including building tables and table updates.SQL Database development experience is a plus.Basic experience with report development using Excel, Word, SQL, Hyperion or other database analysis related tools. Familiarity with data warehouse concepts and procedures.
