Our client, world’s largest Construction, Earthmoving, Mining equipment manufacturer and a major manufacturer of Diesel/Natural gas engines, Industrial gas turbines and other Power products, seeks an accomplished Machine Development Mechanic.


Description:
Prepare detailed working diagrams of machinery and mechanical devices, including dimensions, fastening methods, and other engineering information.
Develop detailed design drawings and specifications for mechanical equipment, dies, tools, and controls, using computer-assisted drafting (CAD) equipment.
Coordinate with and consult other workers to design, lay out, or detail components and systems and to resolve design or other problems.
Compute mathematical formulas to develop and design detailed specifications for components or machinery using computer-assisted equipment.
May design scale or full-size blueprints of specialty items such as furniture and automobile body or chassis components.
Check dimensions of materials to be used and assign numbers to the materials.
Layout and draw schematic, orthographic, or angle views to depict functional relationships of components, assemblies, systems, and machines.
You will build, troubleshoot and test machine modifications and prototype machines, providing feedback to the engineering teams throughout the process to ensure that machines can be built in a production environment and serviced effectively.
You will work with engineering to design and build custom test fixtures and test machines, components, and sub-assemblies.
Fabricate, assemble, and perform simple instrumentation and testing of prototype machines and components, including hydraulic and electrical systems.
Supports shop in troubleshooting and problem resolution to transition prototypes into production.
Provide feedback to design, manufacturing and service engineering throughout the development and field-follow process.
Consult with design, manufacturing, and service engineering to troubleshoot and resolve production or material issues that occur after the prototype stage.
As a contributor to the Machine Development Center, share in administrative work such as inventory and supply ordering to ensure an efficient shop operation.
Working Conditions: Primarily indoor assembly and instrumentation. Outside testing and repairs. Unassisted lifting of up to 50 pounds. Potential opportunities for international travel.

Requirements:
High school diploma or GED required. Five to seven years technical experience - preferred.
Creativity, verbal and written communication skills, analytical and problem solving ability. Team player and detail oriented.
Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology.
Knowledge of relevant computer application, such as CADD (Computer Aided Design and Drafting
5 years of varied experience in heavy equipment manufacturing, maintenance, or repair, including one or more of the following: machine assembly, machining, electrical systems, hydraulic systems, welding, inspection, testing, heavy equipment maintenance and/or fabrication experience.
Ability to read blueprints. Previous basic shop power tool and hand tool experience.
Intermediate proficiency in troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repair of electrical, mechanical and hydraulic systems.
Able to work in a team environment, coordinating work with team members. Ability to handle multiple projects and priorities. Post high school training in welding procedures, blueprint reading, machining, electrical and/or hydraulic systems. Ability to weld, operate hose crimping machine.
